The University of Cincinnati’s Chemistry REU helps students build research skills and develop as emerging professionals and independent scientists. Participants will learn about real-life challenges that scientists are currently addressing, such as “Data Science for Big Data in Chemistry” and “Sustainable Chemistry.” Both chemistry and biochemistry research projects are available.
Students will also work closely with faculty and graduate students while working on their research project, each of which has been designed to have a tangible result during the ten-week program, running from May 30th to August 4th.
The program also includes a weekly discussion series and an end of program poster session to highlight the results of students research. A stipend of $6,000 will be awarded to each student in the program, as well as housing and meals on UC’s campus.

Looking for summer research opportunities? The University of Minnesota’s Lando/NSF program is now taking applications and is open to undergraduate sophomores and juniors. This 10 week program will run from June 1 – August 7, 2020.
The colors of butterfly wings, the strength of an abalone shell, and the adhesive properties of gecko feet arise from the arrangement of smaller building blocks which comprise these structures. REU students at Indiana University Bloomington will engage in in-depth study of materials chemistry and, in particular, how materials assemble from smaller entities (atoms and molecules) into larger structures and the function of assembled forms.
