Genentech 2025 Summer Internship (Proteomic and Genomic Technologies)

The Genentech Proteomic & Genomic Technologies Department is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to support projects within the immunopeptidome and surface proteomics group. The group develops and uses mass spectrometry based methods to investigate peptide and protein changes and we are also investigating novel protein non mass spectrometry based sequencing technologies.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. It is an intensive 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship.

In this hands-on role, the candidate will participate in an investigative project that explores novel protein sequencing approaches and its potential application to the drug discovery pipeline at Genentech.

The program start dates are in May/June 2025. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or Biotechnology meet the education parameters for this role.

AstraZeneca Summer 2025 Internships

AstraZeneca is hiring for two summer 2025 internships that may be of interest to CBC students. Both roles are full-time, 12-week contracts (May 19–August 8, 2025) in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Analytical Science Summer Internship

This role has two separate headcount for the descriptions listed below:

  • Develop platform free drug and DAR methods
  • Mis-pair method for muti-specfic antibodies

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Current sophomores and juniors (expected graduation date after August 2025) majoring in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0

Biologics Engineering Summer Internship

Frankel Cardiovascular Center Summer Undergraduate Research

The Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center (Frankel CVC) is pleased to offer a 10-week, paid summer undergraduate research fellowship program to engage undergraduate students in basic, cardiovascular research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The program offers hands-on wet bench experience led by a Frankel CVC faculty mentor.

Fellows are matched to a laboratory led by a Frankel CVC faculty member conducting research in areas such as atherosclerosis, genetic cardiomyopathies, blood clotting disorders, cardiac arrhythmias, vascular biology, and heart failure. In addition to working as a laboratory assistant within their mentor’s lab, fellows will attend weekly scientific seminars, participate in organized social events, and close the summer with an oral presentation of their research findings to faculty, staff, and peers at the End of Summer Symposium. 

The fellowship stipend is paid via bi-weekly paychecks (direct deposit available) at a rate of $15 per hour (pre-tax) for ten weeks of full-time work (40 hours per week).

Fulbright U.S. Student Program Info Session (11/20/2024)

Please join Fulbright U.S. Student Program staff and Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors for an information session to learn about opportunities for U.S. citizens to go abroad for 1 year to pursue graduate or professional study, conduct research, or teach English. During the session, you will find out about the types of Fulbright awards, application components, tips, and get your questions answered. Following the program overview, attendees will enter a breakout room with Ohio State Fulbright advisors to learn more about applying through their institution.

Undergraduate students from any discipline are welcome to attend. For undergraduate students, these grants are post-graduation opportunities and juniors may be particularly interested since they will be able to start a Fulbright application this spring to go abroad after they graduate.

The Fulbright information session will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, November 20 from 2-3:15 pm. Register for the session.

BIOCHEM 4511 UG TA positions available for Spring 2025

CBC has several openings for Biochem 4511 Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UGTAs) in Spring 2025.

UGTAs in this course attend lectures, lead recitations, provide office hours for students, proctor and grade exams, and attend staff meetings related to the course. Serving as a TA for this course is an excellent opportunity to develop strong professional skills in scientific communication.

The estimated time commitment can vary, but is generally ~10-12 hr/week, depending on your schedule and availability. Pay is hourly at $14/hr and you will be expected to submit a weekly timesheet.

You must have already completed Biochem 5613, and be currently enrolled in or have completed Biochem 5614 at the time of your application to be eligible for a position. The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Monday November 25. We expect to notify students if they are chosen for the TA positions by the week of December 9th.

Summer 2025 Research/Internships at Wake Forest University School Of Medicine

Wake Forest University School of Medicine offers a variety of summer research and internship opportunities. These programs are mainly for undergraduate students. UK Master’s in Forensic Toxicology & Analytical Genetics

The University of Kentucky is accepting applications for its Master’s in Forensics Toxicology & Analytical Genetics. The program has two areas of concentration: Forensic Toxicology/Chemistry and Forensic/Analytical Genetics.

Through the common core curriculum, students in both concentrations will graduate with a skill set in advanced forensic toxicology, advanced analytical genetics, writing, communication, professionalism, ethics, legal perspectives and workplace-specific skills. The curriculum contains two internships which provide students with hands-on experiences necessary to be competitive in the job market upon exiting the program. This is a two-year program.

Tuition for this program is assessed at a special rate for all students (in- and out-of-state), which represents significant savings for out-of-state students. Graduates will be competitive for workforce deployment in the areas of: drug testing and analysis, DNA/genetic testing and analysis, forensic governmental divisions, hospital clinical labs, cancer genetics, genealogy, research and developmental laboratories, and crime laboratories.

Applications received before April 1, 2025 will receive priority consideration. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. There is no GRE requirement.

Energy Company Meet & Greet, November 12

Invenergy, a Chicago-based sustainable energy development company, is looking to connect with students for possible internships and employment.
