SURI at Ohio State

The Summer Undergraduate Research Institute is a program put on by the Undergraduate Research Office and occurs each summer at the Columbus campus.

The goal is to bring student researchers together through professional development programs, social events, athletic events, and digital communication.

SURI participants are then invited to present their research at the Fall Undergraduate Research Student Poster Forum on September 15.

Research Lab Volunteers Needed

Dr. Zuo

Dr. Li Zuo of the Molecular Physiology and Rehabilitation Lab is looking for 1-3 volunteers this summer.

Lab research focuses on stem cell and conditioning therapy on pulmonary disorders in mouse models. Volunteers would be able to prepare and assist in original research and review articles, with a high possibility of being published in a scientific journal.

Volunteers should have an interest in biomedical sciences and be able to work at least 8 hours a logomedweek, and should be juniors, seniors, or graduating seniors.

Internship: Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water

EPAThe Technical Support Center of the Office of Water, Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Cincinnati, Ohio is offering a paid internship for two applicants.

The internship centers around looking at emerging contaminants in drinking water. The participants will research the quality control data trends of newly developed analytical methods. This information collected allows the EPA to evaluate the methods with nationwide drinking water from several different laboratories.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field. The starting date will occur between June 1 and December 31, and the appointment is for one year with the possibility to be renewed. The annual stipend will range from $34,000-$45,000 depending on education level, and reimbursement may be possible for travel expenses to present research at conferences.Cinci

The American Chemical Society is looking for a Journal Marketing Manager for their organic and med portfolio.ACS

The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and administration of marketing campaigns for a portfolio of journals. They also engage the scientific community to drive inbound manuscript submissions in terms of quality and quantity, as well as helping to drive readership.

ASA DataFest

On April 9 and 10, the Data Analytics major is hosting the ASA DataFest, which is free to all undergraduate students who are interested in working with Big Data.

DataFest is a collaborative competition where undergraduate students from Ohio State can gather to tackle a data challenge beyond the scope of what has been encountered in the classroom.

Students can work in teams of up to five and are encouraged to select teammates skilled in a wide variety of data analysis.

This event will also be an opportunity to network with co-sponsor companies such as P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Ford Motor Company GDI&A, Victoria’s Secret, PwC, Capital One Tech, TDA @ OSU, Prevedere, Google, and Data Comp.

Discover UChicago: Graduate School
