Internship & Opportunity Fair

 

The 2019 Summer Internship & Opportunity Fair will take place Wednesday, February 27th from 1-5pm in the Ohio Union Grand Ballroom.

More than 110 organizations will be in attendance to recruit! This event is specifically designed for students to find resume-building opportunities for the summer of 2019. Organizations attending will be recruiting for internship positions, part-time and full-time summer jobs, and even volunteer opportunities.

Polymer Initiative of Northeast Ohio Career Fair

This summer, the Graduate Macromolecular Student Organization at Case Western Reserve University is hosting a career fair, The Polymer Initiative of Northeast Ohio (PiNO). PiNO is open to all undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctorate students from all majors.

The career fair and conference will be held in Cleveland, Ohio on June 14, 2019, and will give students who are searching for internships, co-ops, and/or full-time employment the opportunity to present posters, network with industry representatives, and win cash prizes.

Registration costs $10 for those who wish to present a poster, and $5 for everyone else. For more information on the career fair and registration, visit PiNO’s website. Gotion-Ohio Research and Development Summer Intern

Gotion-Ohio is a research and development center for Guoxan’s global research and development network.  Gotion-Ohio’s goal is to innovate in electric vehicle technology by accelerating electrified transportation and achieving sustainable development. Gotion-Ohio is currently seeking applicants for a paid internship program for summer 2019.  This internship position will be from May-August 2019.

Requirements:

  • at least 2 years of progress working towards a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering bachelor’s degree
  • at least Sophomore standing
  • be eligible to work in the United States without current or future visa support

 

Internship Qualifications:

  • must be able to follow procedures to prepare electrochemical test cells and perform battery testing
  • must be able to carry out routine analyses
  • must be able to have good housekeeping principles and keep an accurate record of data
  • must be able to multitask, be organized, and communicate efficiently about progress of different experiments
  • must be able to use Microsoft office
  • must have strong integrity
  • must be skilled in team work
  • must have strong work ethic
  • must be able to follow safety policies and be accountable

 

Responsibilities:

  • assemble test cells and do cell tests to monitor cell performance
  • work with hazardous material
  • analyze and process raw material
  • prepare electrolyte solutions according to requirements
  • analyze materials to confirm physical and chemical properties
  • track and maintain inventories and request replacements
  • keep laboratory and storeroom clean
  • dispose of waste and obsolete material according to rules and regulations
  • attend required training sessions
  • follow all safety procedures

Alaskan Summer Internship Program

Looking for an internship away from home? The U.S. Department of Energy in sponsoring the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Research Participation Program for the Summer 2019 Term. Upper-level undergraduates (junior/senior) and Master graduate students pursuing a degree or recent graduates with a degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline are encouraged to apply. The internship program will last 10 weeks during the summer, and selected interns will receive a stipend starting at $600/week.

Discovery Prep: Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program

Opportunity for undergrads/postbacs interested in going to graduate school:

If so, the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program at The Ohio State University, DISCOVERY PREP might be right for you! This NIH-funded postbac program runs for one year and is designed to prepare recent college graduates for success in graduate school.

Accepted scholars are provided with:

ASC Career Trek: MEDPACE

The ASC Career Trek: MEDPACE event is occurring on March 13th during spring break from 1:00pm to 3:30pm in Cincinnati.

This event will include:

-A tour of the MedPace Facility

-Information about multiple job opportunities

-A Chance to observe a Clinical Research Associate working with medical staff

-A Q&A session

Medpace has space for 45 life science students to participate in this event! Their preference is for juniors, seniors and graduate students, but freshmen & sophomores are welcome to register as well.

Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from the event. Priority registration is February 16th. Students who register prior to February 16, 2019 will be notified of acceptance to the Medpace Career Trek by February 22nd. University of Kentucky Undergraduate Research in Chemistry Regional Poster Competition

Participate in the University of Kentucky (UK) Undergraduate Research in Chemistry Regional Poster Competition!

The competition will be held Friday, April 19, 2019, in the Jacobs Science Building on UK’s Campus. This event allows undergraduate researchers to showcase their research and network with other undergraduate researchers from around the region.

Posters can be set up beginning at 11:30 am and the poster competition will begin at 12:00 pm. Awards will be announced at 3:30 pm with prizes given for first place, second place, and honorable mention awards.

The initial training program covers the first 6 months of employment in which plant biotechnology methods are taught. Once completed, placement in a position of increasing responsibility in the molecular biology laboratory is possible.

The Product Applications Track is a great opportunity for those with a degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related degree and have an interest in helping customers apply new bioreagents to their cell therapy, vaccine, or cell culture process. Ventria offers multiple entry-level positions entailing a two-year training program that could lead to a Product Application position. Candidates for this track must be willing to relocate to be closer to customers.
