The goal of the 2025 Interdisciplinary Biophysics Networking Mini-Symposium is to bring together students from diverse disciplines to share their research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and expand understanding of science across different fields.

Job Opportunity for Recent Graduates (Post-Bacc)

The Nakanishi Lab at The Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated graduating senior (Spring 2025) or recent graduate to join their team as a research technician starting this summer.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research on cleavage-inducing tiny RNAs (cityRNAs) aimed at treating neurological and neuromuscular disorders. Candidates interested in long-term research experience (minimum two years) and co-authoring multiple publications are especially encouraged to apply.

What you’d learn and do:

  • Design and cloning of DNA constructs
  • Gene expression in mammalian cell lines
  • Dual-luciferase reporter assays and western blotting for gene silencing studies
  • Protein expression in insect cells and E. coli
  • Protein purification using AKTA chromatography systems
  • Preparing samples for cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography

This is a full-time position as a Research Technician/Post-Baccalaureate Trainee. The compensation is $15.70 per hour, plus full benefits. The job location is on campus (Riffe and Biological Sciences buildings).
