Employers regularly report to the Center for Career and Professional Success that college graduates need to improve their communication skills (speaking, writing, reading, etc.). In addition, according to research from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), oral/written communication skills are one of the Critical Career Readiness Competencies that college graduates need proficiency in, to be prepared for the modern workforce.
