Organic Chemist Job Opportunity

Nesco Research is currently hiring an Organic Chemist at their Lockbourne, OH location. This position is for a lead role in kilogram-scale manufacture of specialty chemicals including dyes and dye intermediates.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited too, chemical process monitoring and control, crude product purification, spectroscopy, quality control, and specialty chemical production on kilogram scales.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and 5 years experience in kilo lab. Preferred Qualifications also include an MS in Organic Chemistry, as well as expertise in handling chemicals and with analytical equipment.

Experience with operation of analytical instruments including Liquid and Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, and NMR.

Federal Work Study Position Opening

OSU’s Enrollment Services Imaging Center is in need of Federal Work Study student assistants. These positions offer in-person work hours Monday through Friday between 9 am and 6 pm. Evening and weekend hours may be available to students after the completion of training. Students may work up to 20 hours/week during the semester and up to 28 hours/week during breaks.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is currently accepting applications for General Chemistry TA positions for Spring 2021. A TA position provides the opportunity to improve your knowledge, gain teaching experience, and help students.

In order to apply, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Completed General Chemistry Sequence (1210/1220; 1610/1620; or 1910H/1920H) with an A or A- (preferred)
  • Cumulative GPA > 3.5
  • Enrolled during Spring 2021
  • No other paid monthly student appointment during Spring 2021 (this includes paid research)

Appointment details are as follows:

  • Salary: $12/hour
  • Hours: 10-12/week
  • Responsibilities: teach one 3-hour lab; grade assignments and prepare for teaching responsibilities; 1 office hour/week; proctor all exams; attend weekly staff meeting

Training will take place in early January during business hours. Please describe any potential conflicts with training on your application.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry hires over 50 outstanding undergraduates per semester to teach our General Chemistry course. If you’d like to improve your content knowledge at your job, help students through problems and get teaching experience, TAing could be for you!

Qualifications:

  • Completed General Chemistry Sequence (1210/1220; 1610/1620 or 1910H/1920H) with an A or A- (preferred)
  • Accumulative GPA > 3.6
  • Taking Classes during Spring 2020
  •  No other paid student appointment during Autumn 2019 (this includes paid research)

Appointment Details:

  • Salary:  $12/hour
  • Hours:  10-12 per week
  • Responsibilities:  Teach 1-3 hour lab; promptly grade assignments and prepare for teaching responsibilities, 1 weekly office hour; proctor all exams, attend weekly staff meetings and beginning of the year training beginning Sunday, January 6th.  Conflicts with training should be stated on your application and be described in detail, if possible.
