ASC Career Success: Mock Interviews

Although the semester is winding down, there is still time to prepare for upcoming interviews related to internships, part- or full-time jobs with a mock interview.

These 30-minute appointments will give you the chance to answer common interview questions and then obtain feedback from a career coach. Bring a job description with you to tailor the interview toward a specific position or practice answering general behavioral-based questions that are commonly asked during interviews.

Appointments are currently being held in-person, virtually or over the phone. If you’d like to meet with a coach in-person, email asccareer@osu.edu with your request for an in-person mock interview. Learn more and schedule your appointment.

Interview with a Buckeye

The Center for Career and Professional Success is bringing an exciting event for undergraduates next semester: Interview with a Buckeye!

Improve your interviewing confidence, your ability to make a positive impression, and increase your chances of succeeding in a post-career fair interview by participating in the Interview with a Buckeye event on February 18-19. Multiple time slots will be available on both days, with all mock interviews being held in 050 Denney Hall.

For this event, we are bringing in College of Arts and Sciences alumni who will provide feedback about your interviewing skills, answer questions you may have about interviewing, and provide tips for resume improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to network with Arts and Sciences alumni and to learn more about how they’re using their degree in the workplace.

This event is currently open for registration on handshake here. To register, click “apply” and upload a copy of your resume to pick a timeslot for your interview that works with your schedule.

Mock Interviews

The Career Services Office will be organizing a Mock Interview event, allowing students to practice interviewing skills and to network with alumni and recruiters. The interviews will be held on April 13th and 14th , with time slots available from 9am-noon and 1pm-4pm on both days.

Both alumni volunteers and recruiter contacts will be assisting students by conducting practice interviews. Alumni and recruiters participating in the Mock Interview event represent a wide range of majors at OSU, and their degrees include majors in Russian, English, Philosophy, Political Science, Journalism, Marketing, and Nutrition to name just a few. They represent a variety of organizations (eg. Columbus Metropolitan Library, Stanley Steemer, Speedway, Abbott Nutrition, Nationwide Insurance, etc..) and work in roles ranging from Volunteer Services Manager to IT Manager or Vice President of Human Resources.

If you are interested in honing your interview skills, you can register by logging into FutureLink, and searching for job ID# 25314214. More information can be found here!
