What is Ohio 4-H Capital Day?
This one-day event will give current high school students (Current Grades 9-12) an opportunity to will join discussions covering current issues youth face, learn about advocacy, gain an understanding of the legislative process, and have the opportunity to meet with individuals involved with State Government.

When is Ohio 4-H Capital Day?
Join us in Columbus, our state capital, on Wednesday, June 15! Programming will begin at 9:00 AM and the day will conclude by 5:00 PM.
What is included in registration?
The day will include programming hosted at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, followed by a visit to the Ohio Statehouse, including a tour! Transportation for students will be provided from the 4-H Center to the Statehouse and back. Lunch will be provided to all attendees.
How can I register?
Registration is open through June 6! The cost is $10.00 to attend, which can be paid via credit card or by check – see these details in the online registration. Visit go.osu.edu/4Hcapital to get signed up!

It’s Time for 4-H Camp!!!!!!!!!!!!
Washington County 4-H is excited to announce the return of a traditional summer camping experience. We are planning to host camps for youth Kindergarten thru ninth grade. OSU Extension will be offering five camps this year, including two single day camps, one camp that is one overnight, and two multi-day overnight camps. Four of the camps will be held at Camp Hervida near Waterford and one camp will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Please see below for the dates and camp specific information.
- Junior Camp at Hervida: grades 3-6, June 27-July 1
- Cloverbud Camp at Hervida: ages 5-8, July 5
- Beginner Camp at Hervida: 2nd grade- 10 years old, July 6-7
- Senior Camp at Hervida: Grades 6-9, July 17-21
- Day Camp at County Fairgrounds: grades K-9, July 22
Registration costs will cover lodging, meals, daily canteen, evening snack, class and program supplies for the campers. The camp staff and camp counselors are looking forward to a fun and exciting 4-H camping season! Camp t-shirts will be available at additional cost.

EVERYTHING HORSE UPDATES
ATTENTION ALL HORSE MEMBERS!! Our horse paperwork deadline is quickly approaching on June 1, 2022. Members will need to turn in their horse declaration form, Immunization form, stall reservation for County Fair, Lease agreements, and PAS forms for those participating. The Saddle Horse Committee and Athens County Horse Advisors have partnered together to offer a PAS show on Saturday June 4, 2022 and we will conclude with a Fun show following the PAS events/classes. The PAS show is the state qualifying event for horse members to be eligible to compete at the Ohio State Fair. This event will be held at the Washington County Fair located at 922 Front Street Marietta Ohio. Horse members in Washington and Athens County will not be charged a fee for PAS classes, however all other out of county participants must pre-register with a $10 fee per class by May 27th. The Fun show will immediately follow the PAS event and all participants must be 4-H / FFA members of 4-H project age and follow all 4-H Uniform Horse Rules. Fun Show classes are $2 per class with a fee of $10 max for the day. Participants will register at the event approximately 1 hour before the show. PAS Fun Show
The last Educational Equine Session is scheduled for June 25th from 9am to noon at the Washington County Fair, any horse member planning to exhibit at fair must attend one Equine Session to be eligible to show. For questions please call OSU Extension 740-376-7431.
Hog Tag Pictures Due June 1
By June 1, 2022 all hogs project members must take a picture of tag in hog’s ear and send it to: wcfhogs@gmail.com Must include name of exhibitor with their hog tag number. Sample Photo: Submit 1 or 2 photos showing the tag number in the pig’s ear and showing the color & markings in the other photo. If the pig is one solid color then only one photo is needed.
Pictures must be submitted by ALL exhibitors, regardless of who tagged them or where purchased.
If you want to share a pen with someone or have a pen request other than a sibling, notify Chris Campbell by June 15 (740-984-4646)
June 4 – Market Goat, Market Lamb, Dairy Feeder Steer Tag-in
Required Tag-in for Market Lambs, Market Goats, Dairy Feeder Steers will be Saturday, June 4 from 8—10:00 am at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Watch for road signs to indicate lineup locations.
All Market Goats & Market Lambs must have a Scrapie Tag in the ear by the June 4 tag-in. The Scrapie Tag should be put in by the breeder or where you purchased your animals.
Blue Breed Verification Cards Required for Dairy Feeder Steers – due June 4 – must be signed by dairy farmer where purchased in Ohio and include the ODA Producer number. Cards are available from the OSU Extension Office, your advisor or printed here: Dairy Feeder Breed Verification Blue Card 2022
Castration must be done by tag-in. The Fair Vet – Dr Lowe will be checking animals during tag-in.
