OSU Extension has MOVED!!

The OSU Extension Office is now located at 1115 Gilman Ave, Marietta.

We are sharing space with the Job and Family Services Office and we are located on the second floor. When you visit us please enter the main door. You can turn right and take the elevator to the second floor or turn left and take the stairs.

Required Exhibitor Participation: Hogs, Beef, Dairy Feeder Steers, Goats, Lambs, Poultry, Dairy, Rabbit(Except pet rabbit), Horse (except horseless horse)

Each skillathon will have age divisions: Junior (ages 8‐11); Intermediate (ages 12‐14); Senior (ages 15 & over).
All ages will be as of January 1st of the current year.

Make-up Project Judging & Make-up Skillathon

Skillathon Make‐Up Date: August 9 – RSVP required with $20 registration fee. Sign up here to reserve your

Market Animal & Breeding Animal Pen Reservations

Pen reservations for County Fair market animals and Barlow market animals will be collected with a question during skillathon registration on Saturday, July 31. There are no paper forms to submit. Members will be asked how many market animals/pens they will be bringing to the fair. No pen reservations are needed for Waterford Hogs.

Breeding pen reservations will still be collected by paper forms for County Fair and Barlow Fair. These are needed to register breeding animals and register for breeding classes. Forms are available in the Jr Fair Guide and here:

Rabbit Tattooing – August 7

All Market Rabbit exhibitors are required to bring rabbits to the tattooing held on August 7 from 8am to 10am at the Washington County Fair grounds. Exhibitor not required to be present, only animals. A special market tattoo is used.

May tattoo up to nine (9). All spares tattooed in after primary animals can be shared only by brothers and sisters. Pens for fair will consist of 3 rabbits.

July 15 Project Judging Results

The results from the July 15 4-H Project Judging are now posted!

State Fair Orientation for Qualifiers will be Sunday, July 25 at 1:30 at the Washington County Junior Fair Building. Qualifiers are required to attend State Fair orientation, receive State Fair information, tickets and have a photo taken on Sunday, July 25 at 1:30. If a qualifier cannot attend state fair, please call the Extension Office ASAP so the alternate can be notified and given the opportunity to compete at State Fair. The 2021 OSF will only be a judging event (no rides, no concessions, etc) where the member and one adult will be allowed in the judging building. There will not be an awards presentation at the end of each day.

OSU Extension Is Moving!!

OSU Extension is moving from Davis Ave to 1115 Gillman Ave (second floor). The Extension Office will be closed starting noon Monday, July 19 thru Friday, July 23 to allow for packing, moving, and unpacking.

Staff will have limited email access during this time.

Duck Pick Up Day

The market ducks are scheduled to arrive on Thursday July 22, 2021!  Please be at Heritage Country Store located on Third Street in Marietta from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.  Market duck exhibitors should have their pens ready for the new arrivals.  Please bring a box or carrier for your ducks to transport them home.  We will not have extra boxes to give you.  Stop by the counter at Heritage for any supplies or feed you need for your new ducks.  For questions please email hartline.24@osu.edu or shaw.524@osu.edu.  Our office will be relocating next week and we will have limited phone and email service during that time.  You may also utilize our facebook page to send messages and we will keep you posted as the ducks arrive.

If you were selected as a state fair qualifier you will be expected to attend State Fair Orientation on Sunday, July 25 at 1:30 at the Extension Office. Media pictures will be taken at Sunday’s orientation so please wear a nice shirt.

The state fair orientation will be held in the Washington Co Jr Fair Building.

4-H Camp – Atomic Chocolate Cake

The campers at Multi-Day Camp were able to experience some programming taught by our volunteers and the lessons were provided by The Ohio Soybean Council. One of the activities included making a single serving Atomic Chocolate Cake. It was so awesome – campers asked for the recipe.
