Holiday Crafting Day A Success

The Washington County 4-H program hosted a crafting event for local youth at the Extension Office.  Youth made bracelets, ornaments, handmade cards, decorated ornaments, designed Ugly Christmas Sweaters on the ipads and baked cookies.  They also tied fleece blankets and shopped the Santa shop for friends and family.  Youth enjoyed these crafts donated by Joann Fabric & Crafts of Marietta.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 3 and stop in and order off the “Together We Care Menu”. If you prefer not to dine in then call for your curbside to go order and help raise funds to support the Washington County 4-H program. The 4-H Advisory Committee will receive 50% of the menu item profit for all items purchased off the “Together We Care” menu on Tuesday January 3.

We are encouraging all of our 4-H members, volunteers, business supporters and others to order lunch or dinner to help the county 4-H program. This event will run all day and the Washington County 4-H Advisory Committee Members and 4-H members will be present to greet guests from 4-8pm. Please review the attached menu to see qualifying items.

 

Virtual FAFSA Preparation Event

Ohio 4-H and the Ohio Department of Higher Education will be hosting a virtual FAFSA event for young people and their parents/guardians to answer the most asked questions about the FAFSA.

The event will highlight the benefits of the FAFSA for individuals seeking post-secondary education opportunities beyond the two- and four-year college pathways.

Mail Stuffing Party – Volunteers Needed

Help is needed on Tuesday, December 20 at the OSU Extension Office starting at 10:00 am to stuff the 4-H Endowment mailing. If you are available and interested in volunteering a couple of hours, please come to 1115 Gilman ave, Marietta. The Extension Office is located on the 2nd Floor.

OSU Extension will be closed December 23 thru January 2. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 3 at 8:00 am

2023 Camp Dates Announced

Are you planning vacations and summer activities for summer 2023? Please add these 4-H camp dates to your family calendar. Note the change in 6th graders now being included in Senior Camp

2023 Camping Dates:

  • Junior Camp                        June 26 – 30       Youth who have completed grades 3, 4, 5
  • Cloverbud Day Camp        July 5                      Youth ages 5 – 8 who have completed Kindergarten
  • Beginner Camp                   July 6-7                  Youth who have completed 2nd grade and through the age of 10
  • Senior Camp                         July 17-21             Youth who have completed grades 6, 7, 8, 9

Toy Drive Results

Thank you to everyone that participated in donating toys through the 4-H Toy Drive benefiting the Washington County Angel Tree Program. 263 items including toys and clothing were presented to Megan Barker, Community Resource Facilitator with Marietta Salvation Army. Thanks for making a difference in our community!!
