Desserts Still Needed for Hervida Benefit

Desserts are needed for a benefit being held Saturday, September 16 by Bean Ride Charities (Lowell area). Funds from this event will help build a new girls cabin at Hervida 4-H Camp. About 800 people are expected for their weekend event, so lots of desserts are needed!!

Lemon Shake Schedule – Help Still Needed

Help for the Hervida Lemon Shake stand at the Sternwheel Festival is still needed:

  • Saturday, 5:00-7:00 pm
  • Setup on Thursday at 6:00 pm
  • Tear down on Sunday at 4:00 pm

Also need donations of sugar or money for lemons, ice, etc.

It’s Time for 4-H Camp!!!!!!!!!!!!

Washington County 4-H is excited to announce the return of a traditional summer camping experience.  We are planning to host camps for youth Kindergarten thru ninth grade. OSU Extension will be offering five camps this year, including two single day camps, one camp that is one overnight, and two multi-day overnight camps. Four of the camps will be held at Camp Hervida near Waterford and one camp will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Please see below for the dates and camp specific information.

  • Junior Camp at Hervida: grades 3-6, June 27-July 1
  • Cloverbud Camp at Hervida: ages 5-8, July 5
  • Beginner Camp at Hervida: 2nd grade- 10 years old, July 6-7
  • Senior Camp at Hervida: Grades 6-9, July 17-21
  • Day Camp at County Fairgrounds: grades K-9, July 22

Registration costs will cover lodging, meals, daily canteen, evening snack, class and program supplies for the campers. The camp staff and camp counselors are looking forward to a fun and exciting 4-H camping season! Camp t-shirts will be available at additional cost.

  • SnoBiz Hawaiian shaved ice truck will be inside the camp gates on Saturday from 1:00-4:00pm. They charge $3 for a small shaved ice, $5 for a large shaved ice, and $1 for creme topping. SnoBiz is donating 30% of profits back to Camp Hervida, so be sure to stay cool mid-day by supporting this small business and Camp Hervida!

  • Saturday night dinner at the dining hall catered by Cowboy Concessions. Advanced registration is required to attend the catered dinner.

All other activities throughout the weekend are complimentary, paid for by the Hervida 4-H Camp Building Fund.

Thank You Hervida Chicken BBQ Volunteers!

Thank you camp board volunteers, parents and youth that helped with the annual Hervida Chicken BBQ last Saturday!! It was a fantastic event and the food was DELICIOUS! Your continued help and support of Camp Hervida is appreciated. We also appreciate the dessert bakers!!

Thank You Marietta Welfare League

The Marietta Welfare League has provided $400 in grant funds so we can build a Carpet Ball Table for Hervida 4-H Camp! This will be a great addition to our summer camps and lots of FUN!

The Marietta Welfare League provides grants to many local non-profits. The Marietta Welfare League was founded in 1926 with the purpose to encourage members to become active in the civic and social life of the community. In the past 94 years, more than 3,000 women have volunteered more than ONE MILLION hours of service to Washington County, Ohio!

The funds are generate from The League Shop (Coffee, Food, Gifts) located in the Marietta Memorial Hospital.

The past year brought us many difficulties and changes, including not being able to hold 4-H camps in person. Washington County 4-H is planning to host a modified version of typical summer camps for youth Kindergarten thru ninth grade. OSU Extension will be offering five camps this year, including three single day camps and two multi-day, day camps. Four of the camps will be held at Camp Hervida near Waterford and one camp will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Please see below for the dates and camp specific information.

  • Cloverbud Day camp Grades K-2: June 29th – Hervida (Lunch and Snack provided) – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Day camp Grades 3-9: June 30th – Hervida (Lunch and Snack provided) – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Multi-day Day Camp Grades 3-9: July 5-8th – Hervida (Lunch, Dinner and Snack provided)
  • Multi-day Day Camp Grades 3-9: July 19-22nd – Hervida (Lunch, Dinner and Snack provided)

For the multi-day camps, drop off will be 9:00 am and pick up at 8:00 pm Monday-Thursday. Transportation will be available from Marietta to and from camp for the multi-day camps. Campers will be expected to come every day Monday-Thursday. The camp July 19-22nd will only occur if there are over 50 campers interested in both weeks. If not, only the camp July 5-8th camp will occur.

  • Day camp Grades K-9: July 23rd – Washington County Fairgrounds (Lunch and Snack provided). This camp will offer different activities than the camps at Hervida.

Registration costs will include all needed supplies, food for the campers, and a reusable mask and camp picture for every camper. The camp staff and camp counselors are looking forward to a fun and exciting 4-H camping season! Camp t-shirts will be available at additional cost.

Hervida Chicken BBQ – Volunteers Needed

Please come support the Chicken BBQ Dinner at Hervida on Saturday, May 1. Meal served 4:30 to 7:00pm. Dinners will be available for eat-in or carry-out.

This is also a great opportunity to volunteer for camp by serving, clearing tables, or donating a dessert! Donations for the Country Store are always welcome!!
