Ohio State Fair Clothing Days – UPDATES!

For those 4-H members and families attending the Ohio State Fair for clothing/sewing projects next week, here are a few updates!

The State 4-H Fashion Board will be hosting a Clothing and Backpack Drive during Clothing Days Judging. They are asking participants to consider bringing ONE gently used backpack with some gently used clothing inside of it. Garments that are needed are: shorts, dress pants, jeans, coats, or closed-toed shoes. Items will be given to the Moeller Middle School (Columbus Public) and Maize Elementary (Columbus Public), and the New Life UMC Free Clothing Store. Participants will need to carry these items through fair security, so we ask that if participants would like to give more than one backpack of gently used items, they find a location locally.

The State 4-H Fashion Board has also encouraged counties to participate in a Dress A Girl Around the World work day. Information will be given to all participants at the Ohio State Fair. http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/

State Fair Packets are available for pickup

Summer judging is complete! All state fair packets are now available for pickup.  If you look at the judging results here and see a * by your name, then you are a state fair delegate!

We thank everyone for their patience as we utilized the 4-H online system for scheduling judging appointments.  Monday was our first day of appointments, and started off a bit rough, but we managed to catch up and get back on track.  Once Monday was complete, the rest of the week was more on time, and went better.  Thursday’s rain- Wow!  – THANK YOU to all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends that brought the clothing members to their judging.  We never expected that much rain and flooding to occur causing road closures and detours.  Everyone arrived safely and judging was completed.  The Style Review Thursday evening was just as challenging for some to get to Liberty Union High School.  We appreciate everyone’s patience this week.

If you have suggestions or comments regarding summer judging (scheduling, time of day, amount of time spent with your child, etc.) please let Leslie know.  We are always looking for ways to improve our 4-H’ers experiences.

Summer Judging Results

Summer judging results are being posted on our 4-H Youth Development web page under Summer Judging Results.

Results are typically posted by noon the day after judging is completed.

State fair packets for those chosen to represent Fairfield County at the Ohio State Fair as also available the day after judging is complete.  Clothing packets will be distributed at the style review!
