Scheduling for 4-H Summer Judging is OPEN!
We hope that you are busy working on your 4-H projects this summer. Here are a few important updates to be aware of:
- All Summer Judged Projects will be judged on the following days:
- Monday, July 15, 2024, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (by appointment).

If you cannot attend judging during this week, you can:
- Attend Late Judging on Monday, July 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by calling 740-653-5419 to schedule an appointment. Participation in Late Judging receives a grade only and is not eligible for county awards or state fair consideration.
- Advisor Completion – Talk to your club advisor as they can work with you to review your project for completion only. No grades or awards will be given with this option.
- Please review the 4-H Member Handbook as you complete your project(s) and prepare for judging.
- Youth enrolled in the Tractor Maintenance Club or Shooting Sports Club do not need to complete summer judging if they met all completion requirements at the club level for Small Engine/Tractor Projects and or 700 level Shooting Sports disciplines (Shotgun, Rifle, Archery). However, if they wish to qualify for the Ohio State Fair for any of these projects, they must attend summer judging for each project.
- Youth enrolled in Cake Decorating projects have the option for summer judging completion or county fair completion. If youth wish to qualify for the Ohio State Fair, they must complete summer judging. All Pies, Candies and Pastries are judged at fair only.
- NEW FOR 2024! Youth enrolled in Gardening and Crop projects must complete summer judging. Project books should be up to date and as complete as possible regardless of timing of harvest.
- Food and Nutrition Project Members should also review their project book inserts. These were tucked inside your project book if books were purchased at the Fairfield County Extension Office. If needed, you can download these here: Food Project Insert packet.
- Clothing Project Members should also review their project book inserts. These were tucked inside your project book if books were purchased at the Fairfield County Extension Office. If needed, you can download these here: Style Revue Card and Clothing Project Insert packet.
- Clothing Project Members plan to attend the Style Revue at Liberty Union High School, July 15, 2024, 7:00 p.m. This is a required part of judging to be eligible for county awards and State Fair participation. A practice session will be available on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 6:30-7:00 p.m. at Liberty Union High School.
- Scheduling is now open!

- Scheduling will be open through MIDNIGHT, Thursday, July 11th.
- If you have more than one project, please be sure to schedule an appointment for EACH PROJECT and allow time between appointments to complete each interview.

Camp Counselor Opportunity: Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps
The Camp Counselor Application is extended to May 13th for both Junior and Senior Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps.
- Counselor’s are asked to arrive for Junior Camp in the evening on June 6th and plan to stay on June 9th until their campers have all been picked up.
- Counselor’s are asked to arrive for Senior camp in the evening of July 13th and plan to stay until their campers have all been picked up on July 19th.

Camp Opportunity: Senior Shooting Sports Camp at Canter’s Cave (scholarships available)
Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Senior Camp registration is due June 13th. Senior Camp is for grades 7-12 and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp July 14-19. The Friends of Ohio 4-H are sponsoring 2 scholarships in honor of Ms. Anita Harris and Justin Marteney for Senior Camp and that deadline is June 1st.

Youth Opportunity: Junior Shooting Sports Camp
Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports has opened Junior Camp registration. Ohio 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp is for grades 3-6 and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp June 7-9. No experience with shooting sports is necessary.

Counselor Opportunity: Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps
Are you looking for a fun summer activity? Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Junior and Senior Camp will be here before you know it and we need Camp Counselor’s! Please consider applying to be a camp counselor for the Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps. These camps provide counselors with a great learning experience and we have tons of fun! Junior Camp Counselors are open for teens with a 4-H age of 14-18. Senior Camp Counselors are open for teens and young adults with a 4-H age of 15-20. Counselor’s will enjoy camp for FREE thanks to a grant from the Division of Wildlife. This teen leadership opportunity will allow the camp counselor’s to provide cabin management, supervise campers, serve in a leadership role throughout camp, lead songs, games and activities, participate in camp activities and so much more! Join Fairfield County 4-H Shooting Sports
Have you ever wanted to join the Fairfield County 4-H Shooting Sports Program? There are still spots available in Shotgun, Rifle, Archery, and Living History for the 2024 Season. Please see additional information below:
The Shooting Sports Program is hosting one more Open House in order to get all members registered. If you are interested in joining shooting sports this year, please contact Aubry Fowler (Fowler.443@osu.edu) by Monday, January 15th to receive directions on how to enroll. If you have questions, contact our office at 740-653-5419.

NEW for 2024, we will be having summer project judging on TWO days. The judging schedule will be as follows and project judging will take place at the Ed Sands Building at the Fairgrounds.

4-H Summer Judging for Natural Resources and Shooting Sports: Wednesday, July 12
Hello 4-H Members enrolled in Natural Resources and Shooting Sports Projects!

- All Natural Resources and Shooting Sports Projects will be judged on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (by appointment, see scheduling info below).
- If you cannot attend this judging day, you can:
- Attend Late Judging on Tuesday, July 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by calling 740-653-5419 to schedule an appointment. Participation in Late Judging receives a grade only, and is not eligible for county awards or state fair consideration.
- Advisor Completion – Talk to your club advisor as they can work with you to review your project for completion only. No grades or awards will be given with this option.
- There will be no early judging.
- If you cannot attend this judging day, you can:
