NEW OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE JUNIOR FAIR TAGGING RULES

Each animal to be shown at the Fairfield County Junior Fair must be registered in an individual exhibitor’s name at weigh-in/tagging.

Additional animals may be registered in the household family name at 1 per exhibitor with a maximum of 5 animals per family per species as alternates in the case of death or health reasons as certified by a veterinarian in writing.

THE PURPOSE OF THE ODA RULE 901-19-39 CHANGE IS TO IDENTIFY THE ANIMAL TO ITS OWNER, THE EXHIBITOR, FOR THE SHOW. ADDITIONALLY, THIS RULE CHANGE ALLOWS FOR ADDITIONAL ANIMALS TO BE TAGGED AS ALTERNATES WHICH CAN BE REGISTERED IN A HOUSEHOLD FAMILY NAME. ALTERNATE/HOUSEHOLD FAMILY ANIMALS MUST BE REGISTERED UNDER THE NAME OF THE EXHIBITOR’S HOUSEHOLD. OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE DEFINES HOUSEHOLD AS THE PERMANENT RESIDENCE ADDRESS OF EXHIBITOR VIA ORC 901-19-01.

ALL TAGGED IN WEIGHED IN ANIMALS MUST BE UNDER THE JUNIOR FAIR EXHIBITORS NAME AT TIME OF WEIGH IN/ TAGGING AND ASSIGNED TO AN INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITOR. EXTRA (ALTERNATE) WEIGHED IN/ TAGGED ANIMALS CAN BE IN THE HOUSEHOLD NAME AND ONLY ONE ANIMAL PER EXHIBITOR CAN BE DETERMINED AS A BACK UP. BACK UP WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED WHEN A VET CERTIFIES AND DOCUMENTS THAT THE ANIMAL IS UNABLE TO BE SHOWN.

CHANGES TO MARKET STEER WEIGH-IN/TAGGING WILL GO INTO EFFECT IN 2017. PLEASE WATCH FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
