The Tech & Analytics Career Fair (formerly known as the Quantitative & Data Career Expo) is the premier Ohio State event for students seeking opportunities in the technology, data, economics, and analytics sectors. It provides an opportunity for students to network with employers and learn about internship and career opportunities. Over 50 companies are expected to attend this event, so if you are interested in these fields, you do not want to miss it!

Attending industry partners will be primarily interested in students with data, technology, economics, and analytical skill sets.

Advanced research via Handshake is recommended to determine if a particular employer of interest will be in attendance and a good fit for your career advancement. You can also make an appointment via Handshake with a Career Coach to get assistance on your resume, interviewing skills, and/or job searches. Remember to bring your resume! Suggested dress code is business or business casual.

Attending employers seek to fill full-time, entry-level positions, as well as summer internships.

Current students must present a valid BuckID to enter the fair on the day of the event. Recent graduates do not need to bring a BuckID.

The Quantitative & Data Career Expo is open to all current Ohio State students and recent graduates and provides an opportunity for students to network with employers and learn about internship and career opportunities.

Attending industry partners will be primarily interested in students with data, technology, and analytical skill sets and are interested in chatting with students from the following majors, in particular: Computer & Information Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, GIS, Physics, and Statistics. All students, however, are welcome as we know that many majors provide curriculum that enhances students knowledge in these areas.

Course Spotlight: Cheminformatics

The world of big data is here and cheminformatics is the study of data formats/databases applicable to chemistry. The course will introduce the student to basic data formats for storing digital chemical information and common public access databases important to the practicing chemist. These include; chemical structures, chemical reactions and spectroscopic data. A brief introduction to programming will teach the student how to access and retrieve data from a number of public databases.

When: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday  10:20 – 11:15 AM

Prerequisites: CHEM 2510 (Organic Chemistry I)

*For SP18 only: Students registering for this course will enroll in CHEM 4194

ASA DataFest

On April 9 and 10, the Data Analytics major is hosting the ASA DataFest, which is free to all undergraduate students who are interested in working with Big Data.

DataFest is a collaborative competition where undergraduate students from Ohio State can gather to tackle a data challenge beyond the scope of what has been encountered in the classroom.

Students can work in teams of up to five and are encouraged to select teammates skilled in a wide variety of data analysis.

This event will also be an opportunity to network with co-sponsor companies such as P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Ford Motor Company GDI&A, Victoria’s Secret, PwC, Capital One Tech, TDA @ OSU, Prevedere, Google, and Data Comp.
