Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Virtual Open House: 10/7 and 11/4

Founded in 1890, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has shaped contemporary biomedical research and education with programs in molecular biology and cancer, neuroscience, genetics & genomics, plant biology, and quantitative biology. Home to eight Nobel Prize winners, the private, not-for-profit laboratory employs 1,100 people including 600 scientists, students, and technicians, and also runs a variety of educational, training, and professional development programs for all career levels.

The School of Biological Sciences at CSHL is an innovative and exciting doctoral program based on a rich history of more than 135 years of scientific research and education. Established in 1999, the School was designed to streamline and enhance all aspects of Ph.D. training, with all students’ individual goals at the forefront.

The School will be hosting a virtual Open House on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, October 7 from 3pm – 5pm (EST)
  • Tuesday, November 4 from 5pm – 7pm (EST)

During the event, attendees will have an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the cutting-edge research and innovative curriculum
  • Meet graduate students and postbacs to hear about their research and scientific journeys
  • Receive advice on graduate school applications

ACS Graduate School Readiness Boot Camp – Apply by Sept 29, 2025

Applications are open for the ACS Graduate School Readiness (GSR) Boot Camp—a two-day workshop designed to support undergraduate students in the chemical sciences as they prepare for graduate studies.

The Boot Camp creates a space for students to reflect on their goals, explore graduate education as a viable and valuable option, and connect with a supportive network of peers and professionals. Through interactive discussions, one-on-one consultations, and exposure to diverse academic journeys, students will explore how graduate education can align with their personal values and long-term goals.

The program is designed to broaden perspectives, build confidence, and help students envision their future role in the scientific community.

ACS will fully cover travel and lodging for accepted students. 25 students will be accepted.

Purdue Interdisciplinary Life Science Ph.D. – Open House

Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Science Ph.D. Program (PULSe) is hosting its Fall Open House on Friday, October 3, 2025.

PULSe offers a unique, interdisciplinary approach to graduate research in the basic life sciences. Students have access to innovative curriculums and diverse research opportunities that span multiple disciplines, as well as world-class facilities and resources.

This event is a great opportunity to see what the program is all about and whether it might be the right fit for you.

The day will include:

  • A program overview
  • A poster session featuring current research
  • Lab and campus tours
  • Lunch with current PULSe students and faculty (provided)

You will have the opportunity to talk with faculty, ask questions, and hear directly from current Ph.D. students about their experiences—both in the lab and in the community.

ASC: Mental and Behavioral Health Immersion Day with Nationwide Children’s

Arts and Sciences Career Success will be hosting 35 students for an Immersion Experience to Nationwide Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

This Immersion Day opportunity allows undergraduate students an exciting opportunity to speak to recruiters and program administrators working in childhood Behavioral Health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital—recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report to the Top 10 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for the 11th consecutive year.

During this visit, you can expect to:

  • Get an understanding of the leading work being done in Behavioral Health at Nationwide Children’s.
  • Network with professionals during a comprehensive tour of the Big Lots Mental Health Pavilion.
  • Hear from members of the NCH Talent Acquisition team to learn insider information about the hiring process.
  • Attend an Early Career Panel discussion with OSU undergraduate alumni currently working at NCH.

Students will be moved off the waitlist as space is made available, so you are encouraged to indicate interest even if the opportunity is full!

Tonight: Penn State Biomedical Sciences Virtual Info Session

If you’re exploring graduate school options in the biomedical sciences, Penn State College of Medicine has programs worth checking out. They offer MS and PhD programs in anatomy, biomedical sciences, and neuroscience, plus a robust summer undergraduate research internship.

Located in Hershey, PA, a thriving resort town of approximately 20,000, students benefit from a collegial suburban environment with the reach of Penn State.
