Fairfield County Teens Attending the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living

Fairfield County teens, Morgan Kaper and Jacob Hyme, are currently serving as Ohio 4-H Health Heroes (Healthy Living Advocates) and have been selected to participate in the 2016 National Youth Summit on Healthy Living at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland this month.

The objectives of the Summit are for participants to:

  1. Increase their knowledge of ways to improve health through topical workshops focused on a variety of dimensions of health.
    *Nutrition and healthy eating
    *Personal activity and fitness
    *Social and emotional well-being
*Identification of community issues and needs
  2. Gain access to current research, receive training in new and existing programs, and receive quality resources and learning materials to take home with them.
  3. Develop a state plan of action that can be replicated when they return home.

Teams of youth and adults from states across the country will be attending the Summit. This opportunity was made possible through support from several sources, including the Ohio 4-H Foundation, the National 4-H Council’s Youth Voice: Youth Choice grant, and Healthy Medina.

Have fun Morgan and Jacob! We can’t wait to hear about your experience!
