2025 Camp Counselor Application is now posted as an online application for youth interested in serving as a new or returning Camp Counselor (must be 14 & older to be a counselor by June 1st). Please review the Training Schedule 2025 before applying as there are important changes to be aware of this year!

As you complete the online application, you will be asked to upload the following completed forms:

    1. Standards of Behavior form
    2. Ohio 4-H Camp Cell Phone Policy and Tar Hollow Electronics Policy/Camp Counselor Code of Conduct form
    3. Counselor Permission to Participate.

If you are not able to scan and upload these documents, please submit them to the Fairfield County Extension Office by mail or you can put them in the drop box located on the east side of the building. Our address is 831 College Avenue, Suite D, Lancaster, OH 43130. All documents need to be turned in by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Remember that 2025 camp dates are as follows:

  • Day Camp- June 3-5, 2025; Staff ‘move in’ June 2, 2025- Alley Park
  • Cloverbud Camp- June 7, 2025; Staff ‘move in’ June 6, 2025- Alley Park
  • Junior Camp- June 29-July 2, 2025; Staff ‘move in’ June 28, 2025- Tar Hollow State Park
  • Senior Camp- July 6-9, 2025; Staff ‘move in’ July 5, 2025- Tar Hollow State Park

Selection Day Information:

If you are a 1st or 2nd year counselor, selection day details will be sent to you. Save the date: Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

    1. If you are a 3rd year and up counselor, you will receive details about a returner interview and helping with selection day.
    2. If you are unsure if you need to attend selection day, please reach out to Aubry (Fowler.443@osu.edu)

All positions are subject to changes and modifications after interviews. All positions will be responsible for helping with other camp duties as directed by the Camp Manager/Camp Director and may include basic health checks and cleaning duties.

Teen Opportunity: Carving New Ideas (CNI) Camp

Carving New Ideas (CNI) is a camping opportunity that focuses on critical thinking and program facilitation for 4-H members in grades 8-12. The workshop is held at the scenic 4-H Camp Ohio in St. Louisville, Ohio. Campers develop their leadership skills while making new friends from across Ohio and participating in fun activities. Camp counselors are college students at The Ohio State University. Adult staff members providing risk management, nursing services, and meals are staff and volunteers from Franklin County 4-H.

Registration Fee: $95.00 (includes t-shirt and all meals)

Check-in: Friday, November 22, 2024, 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Check-out: Sunday, November 24, 2024, 10:00am

Save the Date – 2025 Camp Dates

Start planning for Summer 2025, Fairfield County 4-H will have FOUR summer camp options for youth. Youth will sign up for camp based on the grade of school instead of age. This will be the camper’s grade as of May 1, 2025. We hope you are as excited as we are, so save the date and join us at Alley Park or Tar Hollow next summer!

**Please note, Camp Counselors who are still eligible to attend Senior Camp as a camper will not be slated to counsel at this camp. The Fairfield County 4-H Camp Staff are adding special things to Senior Camp that only our oldest campers will get to experience like multi-county camping, paint wars, outdoor cooking, kayaking, and more!**

Camp Counselor Opportunity: Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps

The Camp Counselor Application is extended to May 13th for both Junior and Senior Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camps. 

  • Counselor’s are asked to arrive for Junior Camp in the evening on June 6th and plan to stay on June 9th until their campers have all been picked up.
  • Counselor’s are asked to arrive for Senior camp in the evening of July 13th and plan to stay until their campers have all been picked up on July 19th.

Camp Opportunity: Senior Shooting Sports Camp at Canter’s Cave (scholarships available)

Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Senior Camp registration is due June 13th. Senior Camp is for grades 7-12 and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp July 14-19. The Friends of Ohio 4-H are sponsoring 2 scholarships in honor of Ms. Anita Harris and Justin Marteney for Senior Camp and that deadline is June 1st.

Tar Hollow activities include swimming and boating at Pine Lake, nature, crafts, recreation, tye-dye, campfires, inspiration, and many other activities. Alley Park activities include archery, canoeing, crafts, games, songs, campfire, tye dye, and more!

  • Day Camp (Grades 3,4,5,6,7,8,9) – June 4-6 – Alley Park
  • Cloverbud Day Camp (grades K-2, Cloverbud Members) – June 8 – Alley Park

  • NO REFUNDS once payment is processed. You are required to pay back the full price of camp 14 days after conclusion of camp if your child does not attend.

Registering Multiple Campers?

  • Each camper must complete an online registration form.
  • Families with multiple children attending camp(s) who want to pay with a credit card can:
    • process payment with each registration, or
    • wait until the last registration is complete and finish the credit card processing after submitting registration on the last camper.
  • Please add all fees together and list ALL members names/camps in the description to ensure payment is applied correctly.

 Friend Requests can be made during the registration process. We recognize the importance of sharing a camp experience with a friend. To request the same cabin as a friend, both campers must name each other in the registration process. A maximum of two campers can request to be together. This is the only opportunity to request a cabin assignment with your friend.

  • Please remember, there is no guarantee that the request can be honored, but we will do our best.

 Bertha Wilson Trust will provide a 50% campership again this year, if registered by midnight on Wednesday, May 15th.

  • Members will only have to pay $50 for Day Camp, $100 for Intermediate or Junior Camp, and $25 for Cloverbud Camp.
  • Members are welcome to attend both Day Camp and Overnight at Tar Hollow if they wish and if spaces are available. However, they will only receive a campership for the Tar Hollow camp and will be required to pay the full amount ($100) to attend Day Camp. Teen Opportunity: Ohio 4-H Sea Camp – Preregistration is OPEN!

Ohio 4-H Sea Camp has a few spots still open! Please note this is open to teen that meets the following criteria. Please note that those youth who received the county 4-H trip award for Sea Camp are already taken care for this year (youth know who they are!).

Ohio 4-H Sea Camp pre-registration is still open through May 1st. We currently have some spots still available to take more campers!

A few reminders about Sea Camp 2024:

  • 2024 Camp Dates: July 19-23 at Kelleys Island 4-H Camp.
  • Sea Camp is open to any teen ages 14-17 as of July 19th, 2024; enrollment in 4-H is not a requirement for registering.
  • Cost is $400 to members of 4-H. Cost is $450 to teens not enrolled. Thanks to the Ohio 4-H Foundation for grant support for enrolled members!

Through partnerships of Ohio State University Extension and organizations that offer aquatic education and water recreation, Ohio 4-H Sea Camp at Kelleys Island has offered hundreds of young people the opportunity to learn about aquatic science and experience a variety of recreational watersports on Lake Erie. Sea Camp is offered to youth ages 14-17 (age as of the first day of camp).

The mission of Ohio 4-H Sea Camp is to offer teenage youth an introduction to the Great Lakes through hands-on experiences in a variety of aquatic-based programs. Sea Camp will enable participants to experience Lake Erie-based activities and culture such as aquatic science, water recreation, and fishing. The program is a supervised, educational environment fostered by Ohio 4-H and The Ohio State University.

OBJECTIVES OF OHIO 4-H SEA CAMP INCLUDE:

  1. Participants will gain an understanding of safety applied to watercraft, sun, and open water recreation.
  2. Participants will explore a variety of potential career opportunities through learning from professionals in aquatic science, natural resources, and watersports.
  3. Participants will gain lifelong skills fostered through educational and recreational water-based activities, while developing lasting friendships and comradery with peers.
