Lauren Preston from Fairfield County just returned from a five-day experience at the 2018 National Youth Summit on Healthy Living, held at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD. Lauren played an active role and represented Ohio 4-H well.
Here are some of the things the Ohio 4-H Health Heroes did:
- Facilitated the “Levels of Community Change” game for a group of adults and youth from 15 states who were participating in Culture of Health training sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
- Met with health professionals at the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Shared the Ohio 4-H Health Heroes “Medicine Cabinet Project” at the Summit’s opening session (attended by more than 300 people from 32 states).
- Presented 3 sessions titled “What’s in Your Medicine Cabinet?” to a total of 73 people who were attending the Summit.
- Created and presented an action plan for a “Healthy Living Day Camp” on the Ohio State campus to be held on October 27.
- Toured some sites in Washington, DC, including the Air and Space Museum and the U.S. Botanic Gardens, and a night tour of 6 memorials (Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial).
