America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Official Rules (Source: Link)

The America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarship program (the “Program”) is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and administered and managed by the National FFA Organization (“National FFA”). Winning scholarship applications will be judged and selected by National FFA from a pool of eligible applicants based on criteria set out at FFA.org/scholarships (the “FFA Website”), and based on eligibility requirements set out at the FFA Website and below. For full details regarding the number of awards, entry period, submission requirements and scoring criteria, please visit the FFA website. Additional details regarding eligibility and the endorsement process, and additional terms and conditions of the Program are below. Please review the FFA website frequently for up-to-date information.
- Sponsor: The sponsor of the Program is the Monsanto Fund, 800 North Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri 63167.
- Program Entry Period: Applications for the Program must be received between 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on November 15, 2018 and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on February 1, 2019 (the “Program Entry Period”).
- Eligibility:
- Student Eligibility – The Program is open to students who are: 1) under the age of 23; 2) are high school seniors (public, private or homeschool) or full-time college students (enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours); 3) have at least a 2.5 GPA at the time the application is submitted; 4) agree to the terms of these Official Rules; and 5) meet any and all other eligibility requirements set out on the National FFA website. In addition, applicants must be pursuing or demonstrate an intent to pursue a degree related to agriculture from a two- or four-year higher education program and majoring in one of the fields of study listed in Section 13 below. Applicants do not need to be FFA members.
- Farmer Eligibility – – An Eligible Farmer must: 1) be 21 years of age or older at the time (s)he provides the applicant’s endorsement, and 2) be actively engaged in farming. A farmer is “actively engaged in farming” if he or she performs the work on the farm, or hires and actively manages others who do so.
- Individuals Not Eligible to Participate – The following individuals are not eligible to participate in the Program: (1) officers, directors, and employees of Monsanto Fund (the “Sponsor”), or of any of its representatives or advertising/promotion agencies, or any of their spouses/domestic partners, children, or household members; (2) officers, directors and employees, of Bayer, or of any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, or any of their spouses/domestic partners, children, or household members; and (3) officers, directors and employees of any seed dealer, or any of their spouses/domestic partners, children, or household members.
- How to Apply for a Scholarship: The Program scholarship application is administered by the National FFA. Eligible students must visit FFA.org/scholarships to complete the application between 12 a.m. Eastern Time on November 15, 2018 and 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on February 1, 2019. To be eligible, students must also obtain endorsements from two Eligible Farmers, as described below. All applicants are required to complete all registration information (including, without limitation, your name, address and other contact information). All applications must be completed within the Program Entry Period to be eligible to win. Any applications received after the end of the Program Entry Period will not be accepted. All applications become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Limit one application per person, regardless of method of entry. Applications in excess of this limit are void.
- Endorsements:
- Eligible students must obtain two endorsements from Eligible Farmers to complete the student’s scholarship application. Each student will be given a unique application ID number when he or she starts an application. Students must provide this application ID number to the two Eligible Farmers who will be providing the student’s endorsements.
- To endorse a student, Eligible Farmers must visit FFA.org/scholarships or call 1-855-332-2577 by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on February 13, 2019. Farmers will be required to provide the application ID number of the student they wish to endorse, as well as their own name and contact information. Once the endorsement has been submitted and received by FFA, the farmer and the student will receive an email confirmation. All Eligible Farmers submitting an endorsement must provide all required information (including, without exception, name, address, email and other contact information). Eligible Farmers may only endorse a maximum of three student applications. Eligible Farmers may endorse family and/or household members.
- All endorsements become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. No purchase is necessary to submit an endorsement. An Eligible Farmer that submits an endorsement agrees that his/her name and hometown may be used by the National FFA Organization, National FFA Foundation and the Monsanto Fund or its agency, on behalf of the Monsanto Fund to promote the scholarship. If the student he/she endorsed receives a scholarship award, the Eligible Farmer may be contacted for a quote.
- Scholarship Awards:
Students from all counties in the United States are eligible to participate.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the number of Designated Counties in each state (see list of Designated Counties in Section 12 of these Official Rules). States with larger numbers of Designated Counties will receive more scholarships than states with fewer Designated Counties. A maximum of 352 scholarships will be awarded.
Designated Counties are defined as meeting one of the following criteria:
- a total of either (i) 30,000 acres of corn, soybeans and/or cotton, and/or (ii) 30,000 acres of vegetables (defined as one or more of the following: pepper; tomato; onion; broccoli; cucumber; melons; watermelons; spinach; squash; pumpkin; sweet corn; lettuce; peas; and garden beans), are planted per calendar year within the boundaries of the county. Planted acreage is based on the January 2016 U.S.D.A Crop Production Report for 2015 State acres as received from Farm Service Agency (FSA) data with estimated county level acreage; or
- the county was eligible to participate in the Program in a prior year.
Program scholarships are not transferable. No substitution of Program scholarship or any portion thereof, is allowed, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Program scholarships have no retail value, and there is no income to be reported to the winner for tax purposes.
- Conditions of Participation:
By participating in the Program, each applicant and Eligible Farmer providing an endorsement agrees as follows: (1) to be bound by these Official Rules which are final and binding in all respects, and to comply with all decisions of the Sponsor with regard to the Official Rules, its interpretation or application; (2) that he or she meets all the eligibility requirements under these Official Rules; (3) to comply with all applicable laws and regulations; and (4) that Missouri law, without regard to its conflict of laws principles, shall apply exclusively to the Program and Official Rules and that any dispute with respect to the Program and/or these Official Rules shall be resolved in either the federal or state courts located in the State of Missouri, County of St. Louis.
By participating in the Program, each applicant also, except where legally prohibited, without additional compensation: (1) grants permission for the Sponsor, and those acting pursuant to the Sponsor’s direction, to use his or her name, hometown name, picture, portrait, likeness, voice, biographical information, and comments made in connection with the Program in any and all advertising and promotional materials, worldwide, and/or on the Internet, including social media, relating to the Program, and similar programs which may be offered by the Sponsor; (2) waives any right to review or approve any such use; (3) agrees that the Sponsor may make slight stylistic modifications to his or her comments, which do not materially alter the original meaning; (4) agrees that all media or other materials created by the Sponsor are the property of the Sponsor, including but not limited to any copyright therein; (5) agrees that the release of information about winners, including dissemination to the public and media through any channels, may be made by the Sponsor; and (6) releases the Sponsor from any and all claims for libel, copyright, invasion of privacy or rights of publicity pertaining to such use.
- Use of Information:
Data collected by the National FFA Organization from scholarship applications and Farmer endorsements will be shared with the Sponsor and will include applicant’s name, hometown mailing address, email address and phone number and Eligible Farmers’ names, hometowns, mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers. Please see FFA.org website for more information regarding the National FFA Organization’s privacy policy.
Contact information provided to the Sponsor will be used by the Sponsor, and those acting on behalf of the Sponsor, to communicate with applicants and Eligible Farmers regarding the Program. This information may include, but is not limited to, name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
Applicants and Eligible Farmers may choose not to receive future communications regarding the Program by calling 1-877-267-3332.
- General:
The Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing or offering of this Program, or in the description of any Program scholarship or in any other materials produced in connection with the Program. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, garbled, misrouted, damaged, distorted, late, stolen or misdirected entry forms, whether submitted online or by mail. To the extent there is any conflict between any communications and/or materials regarding the Program or any Program scholarship, and the Official Rules, the Official Rules will control.
Uses of automated devices are not valid for submission of applications and will subject the user to immediate disqualification.
The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Program. In the event of termination of the Program, a notice will be posted online.
Applications and endorsements that do not comply with these Official Rules will be disqualified. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time which, in its opinion, is offensive, contains unsuitable material, threatens the safety or well being of any applicant, or if it is determined that the applicant has not complied with these Official Rules. Further, the Sponsor may disqualify any person based upon suspected fraud, dishonesty, violation of rules or other misconduct. Applicants must comply with all rules as published.
The Program is subject to all applicable federal, and/or state rules and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
- Release:
By participating in the Program, each applicant and Eligible Farmer agrees to release the Sponsor and its directors, officers, employees and agencies, and Bayer and its subsidiaries and affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees and agencies, from any liability related to the Program, and waive any and all causes of action, for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with participation in the Program.
