The 2016 Ohio 4-H Achievement Awards were presented recently at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus and Sydney Malone was recognized with the Swine Achievement Award which was sponsored by Ohio Pork Council.
Sydney Malone, 17, is the daughter of Sue and Sean Malone from Lancaster in Fairfield County. All her life she has been active in the family farm breeding, raising and showing swine and helping others do the same. Sydney has been in 4-H for nine years and is a graduate of Bloom Carroll High School. She plans to go to college and major in animal sciences and ag business with a minor in swine research.
4-H Achievement Award winners will attend the National 4-H Congress with youth from all over the country in November in Atlanta, Georgia.
The evening was hosted by the Ohio 4-H Foundation.
Ohio 4-H is the youth development program of Ohio State University Extension, with more than 285,000 young Ohioans participating in 4-H clubs, groups and special interest programs.
