4-H’ers Helping Neighbors Fight Hunger – 2023 Food Drive Rules
- Join Fairfield County 2-1-1 & H3: Hunger Coalition during September for Hunger Action Month to help fight hunger in our communities!
- Thank you to Farm Credit Mid-America for sponsoring the prize money for our club contest!
- Each week items will be donated to food pantries, meal sites, and shelters across Fairfield County
- Fairfield County 4-H Junior Leaders are working with Fairfield 2-1-1 to identify recipients in every region of our county to reach as many as possible
- Timeline:
- Starts Tuesday, Sept 5 at 7:30am
- Ends Friday, Sept 29 at 4pm
- Items must be dropped off at the Fairfield County Extension Office (831 College Ave, Lancaster) by Friday, Sept 29th at 4pm.
- Items can also be dropped off when pre-scheduled county 4-H meetings are taking place at the Extension Office (example: Endowment Board, Junior Leaders, Show Committee Meeting, etc)
- There are a few ‘off site’ collection times when items can be dropped off
- Sept 9th from 9am-3pm – Ed Sands Building (During Skillathon)
- Sept 24th from 11am-4pm – Ed Sands Building (During Skillathon)
- Members will tell county staff the club name or label their items at drop off in order to receive credit
- Clubs will be competing by total weight of items and item count in the club contest.
- In order to receive the top prizes, a club must donate at least 100 pounds or 100 items
- Awards:
- $100 – Top Club with the most items by weight
- $100 – Top Club with the most items by count
- $50 – 6 Clubs with the most items by weight OR count
- Items Most Needed:
- Canned Fruit
- Soup
- Cereal
- Canned Meats
- Cooking Oil
- Sugar, Flour, Spices
- Hygiene Items
- Paper Products
- Cleaning Supplies
