College of Medicine Q&A Sessions

Join the OSU College of Medicine Associate Dean of Admissions and the Director of Admissions for group Q&A sessions regarding Medical School Admissions. Get answers to your questions about the application process, the new MCAT, the personal statement, the AAMC’s holistic review of applicants, and much more.

Starting October 30, 2019, the Q&A Sessions will happen every 1st Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of the month. The 1st Tuesday of the month sessions are from 4:30pm to 5:30pm and the 3rd Wednesday of the month sessions are from 8:00am to 9:00am. Sessions are in Meiling Hall.

Medical School Admissions Overview

OSU’s PreSOMA club is hosting a Medical School Admissions Overview on campus, Saturday, November 17th 9:00am – 11:30am.

The event will feature speakers from Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM).

Topics will include:

  • The application process and timeline
  • Materials needed for application to med school
  • Medical Student Q&A Panel
  • OU-HCOM overview
    • Introduction to Osteopathic Medicine

The event will take place in Independence Hall (1923 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43210). Attire is business casual.

Starting September 26, 2018, the Q&A Sessions will happen every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. The 2nd Wednesday of the month sessions are from 8:00am to 9:00am and the 4th Wednesday of the month sessions are from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Each session is in 233 Meiling Hall.

Med School Q and A Sessions

Every semester the OSU College of Medicine offers Q and A sessions to address questions and concerns held by current pre-med students here at OSU. Each session is held as an informal discussion, where students can come and ask any questions they have, about any step in the daunting Medical School process! In previous sessions they have discussed a wide array of topics, such as gap years, personal statements, the MCAT, the application process, the review of applicants, and any other questions you can imagine.

This semester, starting in September, the Q and A sessions will be held the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 8:00am to 9:00am, and the 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  Meetings will always be held in Meiling Hall Room 233.

Pre-Med Q&A Sessions

The College of Medicine will be offering Q&A sessions to pre-med students to discuss the Medical School Admissions process!

When? Starting September 14th, sessions will be offered the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8:00 am., and the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

Where? Sessions will be located in Meiling Hall Room 221.

College of Medicine’s Summer Undergraduate Course Creating Excellence in Scientific Study (SUCCESS)

Application Deadline: January 21, 2016

If medical research or medical school are a part of your future plans, consider applying to the Ohio State University College of Medicine’s Summer Undergraduate Course Creating Excellence in Scientific Study (SUCCESS) Program.  The SUCCESS Program will enable students to participate in a 10-week, stipend provided with a travel allowance, enriching research experience hosted by the Medical Scientist Training Program. While taking part in this program, students will take valuable professional development courses and learn from engaged mentors; all while working in state-of-the-art research facilities.  Eligible students have an expected college graduation date in 2017 or 2018, are enrolled in a U.S. 4-year undergraduate institution, and are American citizens or permanent residents.
