Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity at Ohio University

The Diabetes Institute and Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University will host the Diabetes Institute Summer Interprofessional Research Experience (DISIRE) Program sponsored by The National Institutes of Health during the from June 5, 2023 to July 28, 2023.

The DISIRE program provides a hands-on research experience in the structure of an 8-week paid internship focused on one of a number of various aspects of diabetes research. During the program, participants will learn various aspects of diabetes and perform research with a faculty mentor on a topic of mutual interest. Also, the students will participate in activities crucial to preparation for graduate and/or medical school, including a professional development series. At the end of the summer program, participants present their research at a research symposium to faculty, staff, and summer scholars.

Faculty mentors in the DISIRE program study a wide range of affiliated fields including physiology, molecular biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, and understanding psychosocial and cognitive factors.

2023 OSU Summer Internship & Opportunity Fair

The 2023 Summer Internship and Opportunity Fair will be held on Tuesday, February 14, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the Ohio Union Grand Ballroom.

This events targets undergraduate students interested in obtaining a resume-building opportunity for Summer 2023. This event hosts local, regional, and national organizations that are dedicated to diversity. These employers embrace, value, and live inclusive excellence.

Employers are excited to connect with you and discuss available internships, volunteer opportunities, and part-time work in the following areas:

  • Business-related functions
    For example: communications, advertising, public relations, marketing, retail management, sports management, and finance/financial services
  • Nonprofit management
    Organizations represent a variety of focus areas including the arts, healthcare, social services, women’s issues, and others
  • Summer and recreation camp counseling and management
    Summer day camps and resident camps will be in attendance as well as other recreational sports organizations

No pre-registration is required for students, but you are required to present a valid BuckID on the day of the event. You are also encouraged to prepare for the fair by having your resume reviewed. Forge Biologics Summer Internship Program

Forge Biologics is seeking CBC students to join their summer 2023 Ignite Internship Program. The Analytical Development Internship and Process Development Internship may be of particular interest to our students. A full list of internships is available here.

Applicants should be current juniors enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent.

CBC has been informed that interns will be paid up to $23/hour and that subsidized housing is available for those outside of Columbus. Interns will work 40hrs/week for 12 weeks. Graduate students (masters/PhD) are welcome to apply as well.

Summer Internships at Novartis

Novartis is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of pharmaceuticals. The company aims to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives. They are working hard to produce breakthroughs and address unmet needs for patients with devastating diseases, including genetic disorders and certain deadly cancers. They also are committed to ensuring our medicines reach as many people as possible.

Novartis reached out to CBC and let us know that their summer internships will be posted here. Over the next few weeks they will continue to add positions, so interested students should check the website periodically. They expect postings to be split 50/50 for undergrad/grad, with around 200 total positions.

2023 OSU Spring Career Fair

The annual Ohio State Spring Career Fair will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Ohio Union.

The event is open to all current Ohio State University students and recent graduates and provides an opportunity for students to network with employers and learn about internship and career opportunities. The event will be held in two venues in the Ohio Union: The Grand Ballroom and the Performance Hall.

Attending employers recruit across a broad range of disciplines, including are opportunities for science and technology students in areas such as laboratory based research and development in medical and industrial settings, as well as computer science and engineering roles.

Advanced research via Handshake is recommended to determine if a particular employer of interest will be in attendance.

Attending employers seek to fill full-time entry-level positions as well as summer internships.

Pre-registration or RSVP for the Spring Career Fair is not required, but you are encouraged to indicate interest through Handshake.

Virtual Career Fair for internships and fellowships with DoD

Join the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) on January 18, 2023, from 12 to 3 p.m. ET for a virtual career fair highlighting STEM internship and fellowship opportunities for college students and postgraduates at U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) research facilities around the country!

During the fair, attendees will have the chance to:

  • Explore paid internships and fellowships with DoD research facilities
  • Learn about DoD host facilities that host ORISE participants
  • Connect with ORISE program staff in 1-on-1 chats

Keynote Presentation: Dr. Victor Convertino, senior scientist with the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, will give a live presentation at the event. His talk is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. ET.

Summer Internship Opportunities at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Applications for the CHOP Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are now open.

CRISSP is a 10-week internship designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in pediatric research and academic medicine through training in theoretical knowledge and research as well as critical exposure to pediatric-focused career trajectories under the direct mentorship of CHOP faculty.

The goal of CRISSP is to provide a transformational summer by inspiring students to explore, create, discover, and innovate in areas related to child health wellness. All students will have multiple opportunities for clinical shadowing and broad exposure to biomedical research careers. The program is designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in pediatric research and academic medicine through training in theoretical knowledge and research as well as pediatric-focused career trajectories under the direct mentorship of CHOP faculty.

Students receive a $5,000 stipend and free housing in local dorms.

SUPER Summer Training Program

Are you looking for a summer program that integrates research and clinical care? If so, please consider applying for the NIH funded SUPER Summer Program at Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University.

This program provides clinical and basic science research training in the fields of Kidney and Bladder Diseases. Students will be paired with a research mentor to guide them through their summer projects, that will culminate in an abstract presentation. In addition, students will be able to shadow Nephrologists in the clinic and dialysis unit and Urologists in the operating room. SUPER Summer students will receive a summer stipend and receive support to attend the American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week meeting in 2023 (held in Washington D.C.).

This 10-week program allows students to…

  • Increase their understanding of urinary tract development, physiology, and disease pathogenesis
  • Enhance their knowledge in skills required to be a successful biomedical researcher
  • Be immersed in a translational research project
  • Have exposure to multi-disciplinary careers focused on nephrology and urology

Applicants should be in their sophomore or junior year.

2023 Summer Internship at UC San Diego/Scripps Institution of Oceanography/Marine Physical Laboratory


The University of California San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Marine Physical Laboratory is offering a summer internship program for those considering applying to graduate school and are interested in a career path of oceanography or contemplating a career in scientific research and development. First, second, or third year undergraduate students majoring in oceanography, applied mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and related majors are encouraged to apply.

This is a 10-week internship and allows students to work with some of the most notable scientists in the world and learn about marine science and technology while earning a modest salary. Interns will be working 40 hours per week at a salary of $16.30/hour and includes a $6,000 (taxable) stipend.

The application deadline is 4 P.M. Pacific time on January 13, 2023. Applicants may be notified as early as February and all applicants will have been notified by the end of April.

Wexner Medical Buckeye Diversity Internship Program

The 2023 recruiting cycle for the Buckeye Diversity Summer Internship Program is now open. This will allow students to gain experience at OSU’s Wexner Medical Center. Five undergraduate students will have the chance to work with executive directors from across Wexner Medical Center on high-level projects and participate in weekly professional and personal development.

Project focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Hospital Administration and Operations
  • Human Resources
  • Ambulatory Services
  • Mental and Behavioral Health

Students will also have shadowing and tour opportunities.

This program is seeking 5 rising college seniors of diverse backgrounds to participate in the program from June 5th to August 11th.
