SUPER Summer Training Program

Are you looking for a summer program that integrates research and clinical care? If so, please consider applying for the NIH funded SUPER Summer Program at Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University.

This program provides clinical and basic science research training in the fields of Kidney and Bladder Diseases. Students will be paired with a research mentor to guide them through their summer projects, that will culminate in an abstract presentation. In addition, students will be able to shadow Nephrologists in the clinic and dialysis unit and Urologists in the operating room. SUPER Summer students will receive a summer stipend and receive support to attend the American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week meeting in 2023 (held in Washington D.C.).

This 10-week program allows students to…

  • Increase their understanding of urinary tract development, physiology, and disease pathogenesis
  • Enhance their knowledge in skills required to be a successful biomedical researcher
  • Be immersed in a translational research project
  • Have exposure to multi-disciplinary careers focused on nephrology and urology

Applicants should be in their sophomore or junior year.

The application deadline is January 31, 2023 and the application can be found here. A flyer containing more information can be viewed here. Any questions can be sent to John.Spencer@nationwidechildrens.org or kirk.mchugh@osucom.edu.
