Junior Fair Royalty Contest Winners Announced

The 2020 Washington County Junior Fair royalty competition was held on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Ohio State University Extension Office.  Royalty candidates participated in an individual interview with two panel judges and a public speaking event.  There were two candidates for 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Queen, one candidate for King, two candidates for Washington County Junior Princess, one Dairy Princess and one Horse Princess Candidate.

Due to the change of the Waterford Community Fair schedule the coronation ceremony was held immediately following the interview event.  The 2019 reigning Queen, Sierra Sinclair and 2019 King, Collin Bauerbach served as emcees for the evening.  The ceremony began with introduction of each of the candidates followed by the coronation.

Lindsey Hartline was crowned as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Queen.  Lindsey is the daughter of Gale and Christina Hartline of Marietta and a 2020 graduate of Marietta High School.  She is an 11 year member of the Lynch Combined 4-H group, CARTEENS 4-H group and the Washington County Junior Fairboard.  Lindsey’s future plan is to attend Washington State Community College and study occupational therapy.

Megan Becker was crowned as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Princess.  She is the daughter of Fred & Tricia Becker of Stanleyville is a senior at Fort Frye High School.  Megan is a member of the Salem Liberty Homemakers and Lower Salem Boys 4-H Club.  She is also a member of the Fort Frye FFA Chapter.  Megan enjoys participating in the Washington County Fairs and has represented Washington County at the Ohio State Fair.

Caleb Smith was honored as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair King. He is the son of Brain and Yolanda Smith of Marietta.  He is a 2020 graduate from Marietta high School and the Washington County Career Center.  He is a 13 year member of 4-H with the Woodsfield Roadsters.  He is also a member of the Marietta FFA.  His future plans include continuing his education and working in the carpentry field.

Gwendolyn Lang was crowned as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Junior Princess. Gwen is the daughter of Scott and Carrie Lang.  She is a 5 year member of the Churchtown Shining Stars 4-H Club.  Gwendolyn attends Waterford Elementary School and is in the 8th grade.  Gwen loves all the opportunities that 4-H offers especially fairs and 4-H camps.

Isabella Lang was honored as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Princess-First Runner-up. She is the daughter of Keith and Megan Lang.  She is an 8 year member of the Churchtown Shining Stars 4-h Club and attends St John Central Grade School.  Isabella is in the 8th grade.  Isabella loves working with animals and one day may pursue a career with animals.

Julia Hartline was crowned as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Dairy Princess and is the daughter of Jeff and Kathryn Hartline of Marietta. She is an 11 year member of the Backyard Gang 4-H Club, CARTEENS 4-H Club, Marietta FFA, and the Washington County Junior Fairboard.  Julia is a junior at Marietta High School and plans to attend the Washington County Career Center and focus in Medical College Prep program.  She would like to be a radiologist in the future.

Kenzie Smith was crowned as the 2020 Washington County Junior Fair Horse Princess and is the daughter of Bradford and Leeandra Smith.  She is a 5 year member of the Oak Grove Explorers, trailblazers, and Bulls Eye Shooting Sports 4-H Club.  Kenzie is a sophomore at Marietta High School.  Kenzie loves spending time at the barn with her horse Tim Tom, and is looking forward to this year’s fair and all the activities.
