If you are in your final year of undergraduate studies and are plan on getting a PhD, considering applying for a Hertz Fellowship. Hertz Fellowships offer full tuition for up to five years and a 34,000 dollar stipend per academic year. Candidates should be interested in computer science, mathematics, earth science, physics, biotech, engineering, statistics, quantitative biology, astrophysics, chemistry, or materials. To apply you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and someone who is applying to a PhD program or is in his or her first year of a PhD program. The Hertz Foundation is seeking applicants who are knowledgeable innovators that want to make a positive difference in the world. The deadline for application is October 23, 2019. Translational Plant Sciences Graduate Program

The Translational Plant Sciences Graduate Program (TPS) at The Ohio State University is designed for highly motivated students with the drive and passion necessary to do high-impact meaningful research. This program is supported by a powerful, interdisciplinary group of advisory faculty working together to produce the next generation of global leaders in sustainable agricultural biotechnology.

This novel program seeks exceptional students from a variety of disciplines including chemistry, engineering, entomology, ecology, evolution, molecular genetics, microbiology, crop sciences, plant pathology, and bioinformatics.

TPS offers full support for up to five years – full remission of tuition and fees, a competitive stipend, and support for research expenses. Other key aspects of the program include interdisciplinary faculty, a compact and personalized course load, a rigorous focus on research throughout the program, practical experience in each student’s field of interest through a three month+ internship, and opportunities for global collaboration.

Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Science Program

Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Science Ph.D. Program (PULSe) is hosting a Fall Open House on Friday, November 2, 2018.

PULSe provides opportunities for an interdisciplinary graduate experience in basic life sciences for Ph.D. students. The program offers: flexibility through first-year laboratory rotations; team experience within interdisciplinary cohorts; world-class facilities and resources; and diverse research opportunities across multiple disciplines. PULSe is an interdisciplinary program that includes faculty members from 27 different departments/programs at Purdue. There are currently over 190 faculty in PULSe.

The Open House’s activities will include:

  • A “Meet the Faculty” Session – at the session, a panel of faculty members representing the PULSe Training Groups will give an informal presentation on their group and the research associated with it after which each faculty member will be available to speak one-on-one with interested students;
  • Student Lab Tours – current PULSe students will escort small groups of prospective students to and around their labs;
  • Lunch with Students – A number of current PULSe students meet with open house attendees over a meal in the Purdue Memorial Union to discuss their personal experiences with the PULSe program and at Purdue; and
  • A Facilities Tour – Attendees tour the Bindley Bioscience and Birck Nanotechnology Centers to see some of the research resources and facilities available at Purdue!

The event will start at 9:00am and end at 3:00pm at Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. More information about the program and the Fall Open House is available on their respective websites.

Graduate Program in Cancer and Cell Biology

Cancer & Cell Biology

The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications to their Graduate Program in Cancer and Cell Biology for the 2017-2018 school year. 

This opportunity allows students to train in more than 40 labs, with 50 faculty members from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Research Center.

Students conduct multidisciplinary research projects to better understand the molecular mechanisms that underlie cancer development and progression. This research serves as the foundation for future of advancements in cancer therapy and diagnostics.

Acceptance to the program grants full financial support including tuition, a competitive stipend, and a health insurance plan.

Undergraduate students are invited to a fantastic opportunity provided by the Purdue University Interdisciplinary Life Science Ph.D. Program (PULSe)! The program is putting on its annual PULSe Fall Open House on Friday, November 4, 2016, which serves to introduce prospective Ph.D. students to interdisciplinary graduate opportunities in the basic life sciences.

Activities will include a “meet the faculty” session, lunch with current students, and a tour of lab facilities. Students will gain exposure to some of the life science research being conducted at Purdue, in addition to the chance to talk with faculty and students to familiarize themselves with the PULSe Program.
