Looking for 4-H Project Books?

You can purchase project books from the Washington County Extension office located at 1115 Gilman Ave. The Extension Office is located on the 2nd floor of the building and open 8:00 – 4:00 Monday – Friday.

The 2022 4-H Livestock Record Book for 2nd year and beyond exhibitors is also available for purchase from the Extension Office as well as livestock resource guides to help you study and prepare for livestock skillathons!

Barlow Independent Fair Skillathon Winners Announced

The Barlow Independent Fair Skillathon and Poster winners will be recognized on Saturday September 25, 2021 at 4:45pm in the show barn.  Poster winners will be announced at this time and may receive their award during the awards ceremony.  Skillathon winners will also be recognized during this time.  All winners will be asked to have their picture taken after their award has been received.  We would like to congratulate the following skillathon winners exhibiting at Barlow Independent Fair.

Required Exhibitor Participation: Hogs, Beef, Dairy Feeder Steers, Goats, Lambs, Poultry, Dairy, Rabbit(Except pet rabbit), Horse (except horseless horse)

Each skillathon will have age divisions: Junior (ages 8‐11); Intermediate (ages 12‐14); Senior (ages 15 & over).
All ages will be as of January 1st of the current year.

Livestock Skillathon – July 25

This will be a face-to-face event on July 25 with a physical distancing plan approved by the Marietta Health Department.

  • Members and/or family members cannot attend Skillathon if they or anyone living in their household is experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • Limit number of attendees to those required to attend event and necessary parents/adults. Parents are asked to wait in their vehicles.
  • Physical distancing will be practiced by maintaining a six-foot distance between people.
  • Face masks will be required to be properly worn during the Skillathon event.
  • Members will be using Chromebooks to complete the skillathons this year and then have a face to face interview with a judge to review project books and answer questions.
  • Watch for signs to enter and exit the Jr Fair Building.

ALL livestock (market, dairy, breeding, fancy, and/or horse) project members are required to participate in skillathons for each specie project they have enrolled in.  Skillathons are required for all livestock and horse project participants in order to remain 4-H members in good standing and be eligible to exhibit, participate, show and/or sell their project animals at all three fairs.
