Stock the Trailer – Food Drive

The Washington County and Barlow Junior Fairboards are excited to share that Washington County will be competing in the Farm Credit Mid-America and Rural 1st contest Fight Hunger, Stock the Trailer. The contest helps county fairs raise food donations for local food banks across Ohio by creating a friendly competition between county fairs.  Across the state of Ohio, the Fight Hunger, Stock the Trailer contest has coordinated nearly 200,000 pounds of donations to rural food banks.

Farm Credit Mid-America and Rural 1st will be awarding $10,000 in prizes based on the total pounds of food donated to county fairs in our area. All prize money awarded is intended to support youth fair activities in Washington County.

Ways you can be involved:

  • Bring nonperishable food items and bottled water to the Waterford Community Fair, Washington County Fair, or Barlow Independent Fair and place them in the trailer marked with a Stock the Trailer banner.
  • Have a community food drive with your 4-H Club members.
  • Take pictures of your club’s food drive and share them on social media or the local news paper.
  • Challenge neighbors and family members to get involved and support the campaign too.

All food collected at our three local fairs will be divided between ten local food pantries in Washington County. Including:

  • 3-C Food Pantry (Cutler Community Center)
  • Beverly-Waterford Food Pantry
  • Gospel Misson Of Marietta
  • Greater Marietta Community Food Pantry
  • Lowell Area Misson Basket
  • New Matamoras Food Pantry
