Cover Crops Roundtable: First Tuesday of the Month, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Tuesday, January 7, February 4, March 4, April 1, May 6, June 10, July 8, August 5, September 7, October 7, November 18, December 2, 2025: 

  • Join us for a monthly informal roundtable discussion series focused on cover crops. This series will be a place for growers to network, share ideas, and problem-solve with one another about the benefits and issues that utilizing cover crops can bring. Roundtables will be geared toward growers with experience utilizing cover crops but are open to anyone from novice to master. Each date will be a standalone topic, so attendance on all dates is not required. Topics will be determined before each month’s roundtable to allow for the selection of timely issues. This series will not include sales presentations. Hosted on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A light snack will be provided.

Farming Forward: Harnessing Technology for Tomorrow’s Agriculture • Series

  • Class Time: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM (Dinner provided at 5:30 – 6:00 PM)
  • Event Type: In-person
  • Description: Join Ohio State University Extension and Rhodes State College for an enlightening three-part agriculture and technology educational series designed to empower farmers to maximize the data they already collect on their operations—without costing your business fees associated with technology. In Farming Forward, you’ll learn how to integrate your data—such as yield maps and soil test results— with publicly available resources like elevation and soil maps to enhance your management practices and drive greater efficiency on your farm. The first session kicks off on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Paulding County Extension Office, followed by two additional sessions on February 18th and February 25th.
  • Each farm will be provided with a laptop for use during the course, and participants are welcome to bring their own devices. Led by Dr. Jim Uphaus, Assistant Professor and Chair of Agriculture Technology at Rhodes State College, this series will address key questions about agricultural data to help you enhance productivity and efficiency to get the AgriTech edge via innovations for the modern farm. Friday, February 21, 2025: New Pesticide Applicator “Crash Course” Training – 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

    • In-person
    • This new Pesticide Applicator “Crash Course” class is designed to help participants prepare for taking the Ohio private applicator CORE and Category 1 exams administered by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Study guides need to be purchased separately. Registration will provide handouts and other resources. An additional study by the participants is encouraged beyond the time spent in class. Although this class will help prepare participants in CORE (applying pesticides properly and safely) and Category 1 (Grain and Cereal Crops), other resources will be made available for additional study in other certification categories. Participants can elect to test with ODA following the program on another date.

NW Ohio Women in Agriculture (WIA) Roundtable: Last Thursday of the Month, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Thursday, January 16, February 27, March 27, April 24, May 29, June 12, July 24, August 28, September 25, October 16, November 13, 2025: 

  • The Northwest Ohio Women in Agriculture Roundtable is a new event hosted monthly in Paulding, Ohio, dedicated to celebrating and supporting women in agriculture. The event offers a collaborative space for Northwest Ohio’s and Northeast Indiana’s women farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness professionals to discuss challenges, share best practices, and explore opportunities within the agricultural sector. A key highlight of this event is Annie’s Project, an educational program specifically designed to empower women in agriculture through training in financial, production, and risk management. This roundtable is part of the USDA’s efforts to promote the United Nation’s designation of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer, underscoring the essential role of women in advancing agriculture worldwide. Dinner will be provided monthly for participants. Attend one or all monthly sessions. RSVP is appreciated to order dinner. Sessions are year-round.

Statewide Events/Hosted Events:

February 26th, and March 26th: Water Quality Wednesday Webinar Series – 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

The Water Quality Team’s fifth annual webinar series, Water Quality Wednesdays, is back for 2025! Join OSU’s Water Quality Extension Associates for the series focusing on the interaction between agriculture and water quality. Each webinar will have a unique topic and speakers. We will be hosting three webinars, on the last Wednesday of the month, from January to March in 2025. Continuing education credits (CEUs) will be offered for Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) for each webinar. Certified Livestock Manager (CLM) CEUs will be offered for relevant topics. All webinars will be recorded and posted to the OSU Agronomy Team YouTube channel (go.osu.edu/AgronomyYouTube) for later viewing. CEUs will not be available from the recordings.

March 11th-12th: Conservation Tillage Conference (CTC) – 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

  • Join us for the two-day Conservation Tillage and Technology Conference in Ada, Ohio, an annual event featuring state and national expert speakers on a wide range of timely agricultural topics. This year’s conference will include breakout sessions on agronomy, nutrient management, soil health, cover crops, no-till practices, precision agriculture and technology, water quality, conservation practices, and alternative crops. Attendees will benefit from insights, research, and techniques related to precision fertility, water management, and advanced cover crop strategies. The conference will showcase approximately 60 presenters, including 25 CFAES researchers and Extension educators, alongside industry experts and farmers. Continuing education credits will be offered for Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) and Certified Livestock Managers (CLM). A video-recorded option may be available later for additional credits. March 10th-14th, 2025: Overholt Drainage School – 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • The 2025 Overholt Drainage School will be held at The Ohio State University in Lima, Ohio from March 10 – 14, 2025. Topics will include drainage law and economics; drainage design, planning, and installation; safety; and conservation drainage. Participants will engage in a combination of lectures, hands-on activities, practical exercises, and panel discussions. The program is open to anyone interested in subsurface drainage design and installation.
  • Audience: This event is intended for drainage contractors, professional engineers, consultants, district technicians, NRCS and agency personnel, landowners, and anyone interested in subsurface drainage design and maintenance.
