Tuesday, February 7th, March 7th, and April 4th, 2023: Cover Crops Roundtable: First Tuesday of the Month, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Join us for a monthly informal roundtable discussion series focused on cover crops. This series will be a place for growers to network, share ideas, and problem-solve with one another about the benefits and issues that utilizing cover crops can bring. Roundtables will be geared toward growers with experience utilizing cover crops but are open to anyone from novice to master. Each date will be a standalone topic, so attendance on all dates is not required. Topics will be determined prior to each month’s roundtable to allow for the selection of timely issues. This series will not include sales presentations. Hosted on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A light snack will be provided.

Thursday, February 16th: New Pesticide Applicator Training – 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

- This new Pesticide Applicator “Crash Course” class is designed to help participants prepare for taking the Ohio private applicator CORE and Category 1 exams administered by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Study guides need to be purchased separately. Registration will provide handouts and other resources. An additional study by the participants is encouraged beyond the time spent in class. Although this class will help prepare participants in CORE (applying pesticides properly and safely) and Category 1 (Grain & Cereal Crops), other resources will be made available for additional study in other certification categories. Participants can elect to test with ODA following the program on another date.

Friday, March 3: Weeds University – 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

- Join us for the Regional Weeds University. Hands-on activities and speakers will be included in the event. Topics covered – Identification of weeds, the biology of weeds, developing your herbicide program, and control strategies for weed management. Optional topics include cover crops and weeds or forage crops and weed management. Speakers will include Aaron Hagerman, Iowa State, Mark Loux, and Alyssa Essman as well as regional county educators. CCA, Commercial, and Private PAT credits are available.

March 14th-15th: Conservation Tillage Conference (CTC) – 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- The annual conference will feature national corn yield contest winner David Hula as the keynote speaker in 2023. Breakout rooms will include agronomy, nutrient management, soil health/cover crops/no-till, precision ag & technology, water quality/conservation practices, and alternative crops/hot topics/farm

March 13th-17th: Overholt Drainage School – 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

- The 2023 Overholt Drainage School will be held at Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio from March 13 – 17, 2023. Participants may choose to attend the full weeklong program or either of two individual sessions. Session 1 (Monday – Thursday) will be focused on drainage law and economics; drainage design, planning, and installation; and conservation drainage practices. Session 2 (Friday) will focus on advanced technology applications such as RTK-GPS for topographic mapping, drainage design software, and machine and grade control. The program is open to anyone interested in subsurface drainage design and installation.
- Audience: This event is intended for drainage contractors, professional engineers, consultants, district technicians, NRCS and agency personnel, landowners, and anyone interested in subsurface drainage design and maintenance.
