2023 Mini Camp Registrations Now Available

Registration information for our 2023 Mini Camp is now available HERE. Mini Camp will be held May 12-13, 2023 at 4-H Camp Ohio. Mini camp is a great opportunity for our first or second year members to get a little taste of the overnight camping experience. Participants will spend one night at camp to get to know the counselors/staff, facility, and types of activities we do at summer camp in June. This can help those who are perhaps a little nervous about attending camp to become more comfortable with the experience and decide if an overnight camping experience is right for them. This camp is also open to our members who are currently in their last year as a Cloverbud. Registrations are due with payment by Friday, April 21, 2023.

2023 Rabbit, Poultry, and FCS Royalty Applications Available

2023 Quality Assurance Program at Licking Valley High School

Any junior fair exhibitor that plans to show livestock at either the Hartford Fair or Ohio State Fair MUST complete an approved QA training by June 1, 2023 in order to be eligible to show in 2023. We are excited to return to holding QA trainings IN PERSON this year. Please review the Junior Fair Livestock Quality Assurance Guidelines for all requirements and a list of approved trainings. Please ensure you have a plan to either attend an in-person training or complete the online YQCA module BEFORE June 1, 2023.

Our next county-wide program will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 6:30pm at Licking Valley High School.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Photos for fair IDs will NOT be taken at QA programs in 2023. We will have a new process this year where members will be able to upload a photo themselves instead of having photos taken by fair staff. More details on that to come at a later date!
  • There will NOT be a Horse Safety and Ethics training option during the QA trainings. ALL horse members will be required to complete the online EquiSTEP training module. More details can be found HERE.
  • Only Licking County 4-H/FFA Quality Assurance Programs will address program changes and updated for the Hartford Fair. If you choose to attend another QA program or complete the YQCA online module, please ensure that you are watching for updates through the Licking County Extension and Hartford Fair websites and that you check in with your advisor(s) for updates and changes as well.

4th H Club Challenge

We pledge our “health to better living” but do we actually practice it? The 4th H Club Challenge encourages Ohio 4-H Clubs to learn, practice, and advocate for healthy choices and behaviors at 4-H club meetings. Practicing healthy habits and choices now has lifelong effects on the health of youth.

Each club that completes the challenge before the deadline will enter into the $100 voucher drawing for their region to use for their club (project books, educational tools, etc.)! Each region will have a winner. The first 25 clubs that complete the registration and pre-survey will get an extra entry. How does it work? Apply 3 healthy practices per meeting at 6 or more 4-H clubs/meetings from April – December 2023.

  1. Register and complete pre-survey.
  2. Record the dates and activities in the 4th H tracker link. (the tracker link will be provided after registering)
  3. Share a picture of your club doing a healthy practice on social media. Be sure to include the official hashtag #Ohio4thHClubChallenge.
  4. Submit all activities to the tracker link by December 31st, 2023.

LAST CHANCE: 4-H Enrollments Due APRIL 1

Last chance to complete your Licking County 4-H enrollments for 2023! Enrollments are due April 1, 2023. Please review the information below before starting your enrollment.

Your login credentials are the same as last year. If you have forgotten your password, please use the Reset Password option to reset your password. If you no longer have access to the email account you used last year, please email anderson.1410@osu.edu so we can update your family profile.

Instructions on how to log in and enroll can be found on the How to Join 4-H page here: https://licking.osu.edu/program-areas/4-h-youth-development/how-join-4-h.  Scroll down to the instructions for RETURNING Families. There are step-by-step instructions that you can view and print, a tip sheet, and a video.

Once you have reviewed the instructions, visit oh.4honline.com to login and enroll. Please note that the site works best in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Please ensure that you are at the 4-HOnline 2.0 site and have not traversed to the old site. Please note: If you search for 4-HOnline through a search engine, often the first option that populates is the old site. Please make sure that the login screen looks like this:

A few things to note:

  • There are several new and revised projects. One change that will likely be important for many of our members has to do with the rabbit projects. The three rabbit projects (225 Breeding Rabbit, 226 Market Rabbit, and 227 Pet Rabbit) have all been combined into one project book (new book coming soon). When looking to enroll in a rabbit project, you will want to look for project 228BR Breeding Rabbit, 228MA Market Rabbit, and/or 228PE Pet Rabbit.
  • If anyone in your family has been enrolled in 4-H anywhere in Ohio since 2014, you will have a family profile. If you have trouble accessing your family profile, please DO NOT create a new one. Contact Adrienne (anderson.1410@osu.edu) and she will help you get access to your existing profile.
  • If you have a family member who has “skipped” a year or two of 4-H, their profile may have been archived. Please contact Adrienne and let her know to reactivate the profile. Please DO NOT create a new profile. We want to utilize the existing profile for each member as all of their 4-H history is attached to the original profile.
  • Please take the time to review each member’s profile as you enroll them to ensure ALL the information is there and correct. Please update any contact information that may have changed since last year.
  • Please be sure that all projects are included and correct BEFORE you submit an enrollment. You will NOT be able to make changes to club/project enrollment once you click the Submit button. If you are not able to complete the enrollment in one sitting or are trying to decide on projects, the system will save each page of progress. You can leave that enrollment and come back to it later. Once you have submitted your enrollment, any changes regarding club and project enrollment will need to be made through Adrienne.
  • Once you submit an enrollment, it will be listed as “awaiting review” until it is reviewed at the county level. It will either be approved or will be sent back to you if there is something that needs fixed.
  • If you select a livestock, horse, dog, or shooting sports project the system will ask you to electronically sign the consent for those projects.
  • Cloverbud members should select the project #710GPM Cloverbud Activities for their enrollment.
  • Those joining the Licking County 4-H Band should select COP-Arts 1900 Performing Arts – 4-H Band for their project. It will be listed towards the end of the project list with the other County Only Projects (COP).
