Ohio 4-H Health Heroes

The Ohio 4-H Health Heroes Program is looking for 4-H youth who have a passion for health and who wish to share their knowledge and experiences with other members. The Ohio 4-H Healthy Living program provides youth with the opportunity to represent 4-H and promote healthy living in their communities. 4-H Health Heroes promote healthy eating, encourage people to engage in physical activities, and promote positive community change. Additionally, 4-H Health Heroes help Ohio 4-H accomplish the goals of the National 4-H Healthy Living Mission Mandate, which encourages youth and families to gain optimal physical, social, and emotional well-being.

  • The Health Heroes Program is open to all youth in grades 7-12. Youth in grades 9-12 have the option to take on additional responsibilities and serve at the state level.
  • Applications are due September 15th.
  • Youth must attend one of the regional trainings held throughout the state

Licking County 4-H Food & Fashion Board Applications

Do you enjoy taking food and/or clothing projects? Do you want to share your knowledge and gain leadership skills? Do you want to meet new people and make new friends? If so, we would encourage you to apply for the Licking County 4-H Food & Fashion Board. The Food & Fashion Board is open to members ages 14 as of January 1, 2019. Members must have completed a food or clothing project in 2018 and plan to complete a food or clothing project in 2019 to be eligible for the board.

Applications are due to the Licking County Extension Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018.

Interviews will be held at the Licking County Extension Office on Thursday, October 4, 2018 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.  Once you have submitted your application, please call our office at 740.670.5315 to schedule your interview time.

New Opportunity! 4-H D.A.W.N. Camp for Teen Girls

As the seasons begin to change we would like to unveil a new opportunity for older 4-H girls to camp and enjoy Ohio’s great outdoors this fall! D.A.W.N Defining Adventures for Women in Nature is a brand-new camp offered this year October 12-14th at Mohican Forest for girls 16-19 and still in 4-H. This camp is non-traditional in that it will truly be a 100% outdoor camping experience! These girls can come ready to enjoy activities like wilderness first aid, campfire conversations, autumn hiking, sleeping in a tent, outdoor cooking, and building connections with other outdoor-loving girls! 2018 Licking County 4-H Golf Outing

We are still looking for groups interested in golfing at the 2018 Licking County 4-H Golf Outing on Saturday, September 15th at The Links at Echo Springs. All proceeds benefit the Licking County 4-H Youth Development Program Award and Scholarship Opportunities.

2018 Farm Science Review

The 2018 Farm Science Review will be held September 18th-20th in London, Ohio. The review will be open three days for you to peruse 4,000 product lines from 600 commercial exhibitors, and learn the latest in agricultural production. The educational programs feature Ohio State and Purdue specialists and are second to none in the agricultural exhibition world. Tickets can be purchased at our office or online. 2018 Licking County River Round Up

A Special Event for Everyone!
You don’t have to get wet or pick up garbage to participate!!!

This annual river clean up brings out hundreds of volunteers who pull tires, shopping carts and mountains of trash from 30 miles of rivers and streams.  Through this amazing community-based conservation effort, a river system that had all but been abandoned, has seen a beautiful rebirth of aquatic and bird life.

Save the Date: HealthU

The Ohio 4-H Health Heroes will be hosting HealthU, a hands-on, one day event for middle school-age members interested in learning about healthy living and health-related careers. HealthU will be held on October 27, 2018 at the 4-H Center on the OSU campus. More information will be available closer to the event.
