2025 Hartford Fair Junior Fair Board Applications Available

Come be a part of the team! The application for the 2025 Hartford Fair Junior Fair Board is now available HERE. Completed applications must be turned in by November 15, 2025. Applicants must be age 14 as of 01/01/2026 to apply for the junior fair board. Interviews will take place on Saturday, December 6th at the Licking County Extension Office. Once you have submitted your application, please call our office at 740-670-5315 to schedule your interview.

Cost: 17 and under – $25 | 18 and over – $40

Don’t miss out! Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is hosting three free ExploreAg Camp experiences during the fall for high school students to explore careers in food, agriculture, and STEM-related areas!

ExploreAg Overview

Purpose: Discover careers linked to agriculture and related STEM fields through a series of immersive and hands-on experiences and tours.

Who: Ohio students entering grades 9-12 in the fall, or recent high school graduates.

Cost: Free

Teen Awards & Opportunities Workshop

Apply for county and state achievement awards, scholarships, camps and conferences using the Ohio 4-H Achievement Record. How do you know if you’re eligible?  If you are a current 4-H member who will have passed your 14th birthday (but not yet passed your 19th birthday) by January 1, 2026, you are considered to be eligible for these opportunities.  However, in order to compete for awards selection and recognition, you must complete and submit an Ohio 4-H Achievement Record Form. Not sure how to get started or have you completed these forms in the past and would like help to make them better? Lisa will hold a Teen Awards & Opportunity Workshop on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 starting at 6:30pm at the Licking County Extension Office. Reach out to Lisa at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu to register!

Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Workshop

The Fall Workshop for Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors will take place September 26-28, 2025 at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson County.

Join Ohio 4-H for a full weekend to become certified or to get recertified as a 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor! The cost to attend is $110 and is due by September 1, 2025.

Please note: participants must be an APPROVED 4-H advisor and be currently enrolled in 4-HOnline to attend.

Life Skills Training for First-Year College Students at Local Campus

The Licking County Health Department would like to make you aware of the following opportunity for first year college students:

Are you a first-year college student in Licking County? Join the Licking County Health Department (LCHD) for our free Life Skills training starting on Tuesday, September 9th and get the chance to win a $50 Amazon GIFT CARD!

WHAT: The Licking County Health Department (LCHD) will be providing the Botvin Transitions LifeSkills Training an interactive, skills-based training that helps young adults navigate the transition into higher education.

WHO: This training is open to students attending the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and Ohio State University (OSU)-Newark Campus this fall. Other first-year college students residing in Licking County are welcome to attend virtually.

WHY: Making the transition from high school to college comes with new challenges. Through this training, you will develop social skills for forming long lasting relationships while in school, learn management strategies for reaching your goals, and connect with other first-year college students.

The first four participants to register will also receive a $50 Amazon gift card following the completion of the course.

Food will be provided for in-person attendees.

WHERE: Participants can join us in-person at the Warner Center in room 201 on COTC’s/OSU-Newark’s campus (1219 University Dr, Newark, OH 43055), or they can attend virtually. Virtual participants will receive the link following registration.

WHEN: To complete the course, participants will need to attend both sessions:

  • Tuesday, September 9 | 5:00 to 7:30 PM
  • Thursday, September 11 | 5:00 to 7:30 PM

2025 Farm Science Review

The 2025 Farm Science Review will take place September 16-18, 2025 in London, OH. The Farm Science Review is open 8:00am-5:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8:00am-4:00pm on Thursday. The Farm Science Review is packed full of programs, demonstrations, activities, and vendors. You can purchase tickets online at the link above or tickets can be purchased at our office and several other businesses in the county. Pre-sale tickets purchased through our office or one of the other local business must be purchased by Monday, September 15th, otherwise, you can purchase tickets online or when you arrive to the Farm Science Review.

Results from the 2025 Hartford Fair are being posted to the Exhibitor page of the Hartford Fair website. While results for several shows/events are already posted, we will be working over the next few weeks to get the rest of the results posted there, so if you don’t see a show posted just yet, check back in a few weeks!

REMINDER: Licking County 4-H Golf Outing

The Licking County 4-H Committee will host their annual golf outing on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Villageview Golf Course. The cost is $65 per team (teams of 4) and includes carts, a steak dinner, and door prizes. Registration information can be found HERE.
