Tenure-Track Position in Modern Chinese Humanities

The Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures (REALC) at Emory University in Atlanta, GA invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in modern Chinese Humanities at the rank of advanced Assistant Professor or early Associate Professor, to begin Fall 2024. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in modern and contemporary China who work at the interface between the humanities and social sciences, and who bring a transnational, intercultural, or historical perspective to their research and teaching. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding research record in relevant field and successful experience teaching undergraduates in North American universities.

The successful candidate will be expected to continue to be a productive scholar and help mentor student research.  The candidate will also be expected to teach four courses per academic year, which will include cultural content courses based on the candidate’s area of specialization and on department needs. The candidate will play an important role in the development of the Chinese program, the interdepartmental East Asian Studies program, and the university as a whole.
