Traffic Pattern for June 1st at the Hartford Fairgrounds
- Beef Feeder Calf Registration, enter Gate B. Red line and stop at Sheriffs Office follow Yellow to exit Gate C.
- Dairy Feeder Calf Weigh-In, enter Gate D. Blue line and go through the beef barn and scales located in Grubb follow Yellow to exit Gate C. or park in marked out blue area if staying for clinic. If you have both Beef and Dairy feeders we ask you go through one line and then exit and enter the next line.
- Rabbit & Poultry Clinic, enter Gate D. Purple line and park in the parking lot in Gate D marked out in purple. Welcome to walk through Gate by the beef barn or Gate D2.
- Lamb & Goat Show, enter Gate D. Orange line and follow to Gate D2 and park in outlined area behind sheep and goat barn. Follow Yellow to exit Gate C.
- Horse Show, enter Gate B. Brown line follow east side of race horse and hog barn. Follow Yellow to exit Gate C.
REMINDER: Beeson Award Application Due June 21st
The Beeson Award for “Outstanding 4-H Horse Project Member” is due by Friday, June 21, 2024 to the Licking County Extension Office. A 4-H Horse Project member may nominate him/herself, be nominated by an Advisor, or by another 4-H member. Please consider who you might want to nominate for this honor. 2024 Hartford Fair Entry Information
All Hartford Fair entries must be completed through the FairEntry portal again this year. The portal will open on Sunday, June 19, 2024. Please follow the Hartford Fair Entry Instructions when making your entries. Entry deadline is Friday, June 28, 2024.
Please note:
- The Hartford Fair Entry Portal can be found by visiting: http://hartfordfair.fairentry.com
- Please be sure to review the Hartford Fair Premium Book to ensure you know which Classes and Lots you will be making entries for before you start that process.
- All 4-H families must use their 4-HOnline Credentials to log into FairEntry. If a member creates a new account in FairEntry, they will be unable to make entries in Junior Fair Departments as those departments require them to be enrolled in the appropriate 4-H project in order to make entries.
- All FFA members making entries in livestock departments will submit their own entries this year. Those entering projects in the FFA Building will do so through their advisor.
- Please make sure that you add all entries to each exhibitor in your family before you submit the entries and continue to the payment portal.
- NEW FOR 2024: All youth planning to participate in Showmanship MUST make an entry for their Showmanship class. Even if a member isn’t sure about whether they want to do Showmanship or not, they should go ahead and make an entry for it.
Photo IDs
Both Junior Fair Exhibitors and Advisors must submit a photo for their fair ID. Photos must be submitted by June 30, 2024. Please ensure that all Junior Fair Exhibitors submit their photo through the link for YOUTH ID while the advisors should submit their photo through the ADULT ID link. Please ensure your photo meets the requirements listed. The fair ID will be used for gate admission as well as collecting premiums from the Premium Bank. Horse and Pony Scholarship Application Due
The Licking County 4-H Horse & Pony Council Scholarship Application is due by Friday, May 17, 2024. Applications should be mailed or dropped off to the Licking County Extension Office at 771 East Main St., Suite 103, Newark, OH 43055. Please review the application for all guidelines and requirements.
EquiSTEP – Equine Project Member Requirement
Equine Safety, Training and Education Program (EquiSTEP) is an annual statewide requirement (beginning in 2023) for all youth participating in Ohio 4-H Horse Program activities. EquiSTEP replaces the statewide requirement of reading the Horses, Safety, and You (191R) resource and viewing the Every Time, Every Ride and Horses, Kids, and Ethics videos for youth and their families who are new to the 4-H horse program.
Please review the Instructions for Completing EquiSTEP and be sure to allow time to complete this requirement prior to the June 1st deadline. All members must forward their certificate of completion to Lisa McCutcheon at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu so that we know this requirement has been completed.
REMINDER: 2024 Livestock Requirements Summary
We’ve had lots of questions recently about possession dates, tagging/banding/tattooing dates, and requirements for livestock projects. Please be sure that you review the 2024 Hartford Junior Fair Livestock Requirements Summary. This document has all of the pertinent dates and information for all livestock projects. Please review it carefully to ensure you know all deadlines and requirements for your livestock project.
REMINDER: 4-H Horse ID Forms Due
Licking County 4-H Horse ID Forms are due, along with the required fee, to the Licking County 4-H Horse and Pony Council by Thursday, April 18, 2024. Forms should either be mailed to: LC4-HHPC, P.O. BOX 87, Kirkersville, OH 43033 or can also be hand-delivered to a LC4-HHPC representatives between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th at the Extension Office.
