REMINDER: 2024 Livestock Quality Assurance Trainings

Hartford Fair Livestock Quality Assurance (QA) Trainings for 2024 are in full swing! Any junior fair exhibitor that plans to show livestock at either the Hartford Fair or Ohio State Fair MUST complete an approved QA training by June 1, 2024 in order to be eligible to show in 2024. We are excited to return to holding QA trainings IN PERSON this year. Please review the Junior Fair Livestock Quality Assurance Guidelines for all requirements and a list of approved trainings. Please ensure you have a plan to either attend an in-person training or complete the online YQCA module BEFORE June 1, 2024.

Our next program will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Utica High School.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Photos for fair IDs will NOT be taken at QA programs in 2024. We will have a process similar to last year where members will be able to upload a photo themselves instead of having photos taken by fair staff. More details on that to come at a later date!
  • There will NOT be a Horse Safety and Ethics training option during the QA trainings. ALL horse members will be required to complete the online EquiSTEP training module. More details can be found HERE.
  • Only Licking County 4-H/FFA Quality Assurance Programs will address program changes and updated for the Hartford Fair. If you choose to attend another QA program or complete the YQCA online module, please ensure that you are watching for updates through the Licking County Extension and Hartford Fair websites and that you check in with your advisor(s) for updates and changes as well.

REMINDER: Introduction to Food and Clothing Projects Workshop

The Licking County 4-H Food and Fashion Board is hosting an Introduction to Food and Clothing Projects Workshop to help members who are new to 4-H or are new to taking food or clothing projects. This workshop will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024 between 10:00am and noon at the Licking County Extension Office. We plan to share tips for completing your projects and answer questions you may have to get you off to a good start with your projects. Members can sign up to attend either the food project session (10:00am), clothing project session (11:00am) or both. Participants are required to have an adult attend with them. Ohio 4-H Senior and Junior Shooting Sports Camps

Ohio 4-H Senior Shooting Sports Camp registration is now open. Ohio 4-H Senior Shooting Sports Camp is for grades 7-12 and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp July 14-19. The camp registration deadline is June 13, 2024.

 

Ohio 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp registration is also open. Ohio 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp is for grades 3-6 and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp June 7-9. 2024 Licking County 4-H Summer Camp Registration Information

Who’s ready for 4-H Summer Camp We’re planning a Cruise!
Here’s what you need to know… Registration goes live Sunday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Thanks to support from the Licking County Farm Bureau, all Licking County 4-H members will receive a $20 discount on their 4-H Camp registration. This will bring the cost for Licking County 4-H members to $230. Children of current Licking County Farm Bureau members are also eligible to receive and additional $50 discount (must be current members and must include member number during registration).

You’ll complete three easy steps:

2) Session Selection

3) Health Form!

Quality Assurance Program at Licking Valley High School Rescheduled

The Quality Assurance Program at Licking Valley High School that was cancelled due to weather has been rescheduled for Friday, May 17, 2024 at 6:30pm. Please remember that all livestock members must attend a Quality Assurance Program by June 1st in order to be eligible to show their project. Including this rescheduled program there are four programs upcoming in Licking County.

REMINDER: 4-H Camp Ohio Open House

Are you a former camper? First year camper? Looking for a camp facility for your group? Well, 4-H Camp Ohio’s OPEN SEASON is the event for you!

Camp would like to welcome the 4-H Camp Ohio community, both old and new, to visit on Sunday April 21, 2024 anytime from 10:00am-4:00pm.

No registration required. BYO picnic lunch or purchase a light lunch in the Dining Hall. A selection of activities will be on offer for your enjoyment.

REMINDER: 2024 Meat Chicken and Duck Pool Order Forms Due

The 2024 Meat Chicken Pool and 2024 Meat Duck Pool order forms are now available. Forms are due with payment to the Licking County Extension Office by 4:00pm on Friday, April 19, 2024. ALL junior fair exhibitors who are planing to enter market chicken or market duck classes at the Hartford Fair MUST purchase their chickens or ducks through the poultry pool ordering process.
