Join 4-H Camp Ohio for a new weekend opportunity October 18-20, 2024! Open to anyone from anywhere, experience the ultimate family adventure at their Halloween Camp, where festive fun and outdoor excitement combine for a spooktacular getaway!

4-H Zoo Apprentice Camp

The 4-H Zoo Apprentice Camp is a unique opportunity for 4-H’ers to explore the world of animals at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida.

In this experience, the world’s largest zoological organization partners with 4-H to offer the opportunity for members to experience one-of-a-kind adventures in Busch Gardens’ 335-acre African-themed living classroom and SeaWorld’s 200-acre aquatic classroom.

4-H’ers become amateur zookeepers, assist zoo staff behind the scenes, and observe animal care sessions. In this learn-by-doing environment, members explore careers in the animal field and learn about animal conservation all while having fun in the park!

Two Camps are open to all 4-H Members 4-H Junior Zoo Apprentice Camp for youth ages 11-13 & 4-H Zoo Apprentice for youth 14+! Truly a great way to spend winter break! Register HERE.

REMINDER: Teen Awards & Opportunities Workshop

Apply for county and state achievement awards, scholarships, camps and conferences using the Ohio 4-H Achievement Record. How do you know if you’re eligible?  If you are a current 4-H member who will have passed your 14th birthday (but not yet passed your 19th birthday) by January 1, 2025, you are considered to be eligible for these opportunities.  However, in order to compete for awards selection and recognition, you must complete and submit an Ohio 4-H Achievement Record Form. Not sure how to get started or have you completed these forms in the past and would like help to make them better? Lisa will hold a Teen Awards & Opportunity Workshop on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 starting at 6:30pm at the Licking County Extension Office. Reach out to Lisa at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu to register!

All About Goats Fall Webinar Series

The Ohio State University Extension Small Ruminants Team is hosting a 6-part All About Goats! Fall Webinar series. This webinar series is going to answer producers burning questions concerning their own herd and help new producers start their herds. Whether you are thinking about or currently raising Dairy or Meat goats- this webinar is for you! All youth livestock exhibitors are encouraged to attend. REMINDER: Honor Club Application Due Soon!

Is your club an Honor Club? Clubs can be recognized as an Honor Club (either Bronze, Silver, or Gold) at the 4-H Fall Achievement Night in November by filling out and turning in the Honor Club Application to the Extension Office. Honor Club status depends on the number of points each club earns based on the involvement of their members in activities that occurred throughout the year. Applications are due September 1st and can be emailed to Lisa McCutcheon at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu. We would love to see all clubs turn in an application this year!

Ohio Farm Bureau ExploreAg Camps

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is pleased to announce we will be hosting two free ExploreAg Camp experiences this fall! If you know of any students who would be interested in applying, please encourage them to do so by Sept. 30.

ExploreAg Overview
Purpose: Discover careers linked to agriculture and related STEM fields through a series of immersive and hands-on experiences and tours.
Who: Ohio students entering grades 9-12 in the fall, or recent high school graduates.
Cost: Free

REMINDER: Licking County 4-H Golf Outing

The Licking County 4-H Committee will host their annual golf outing on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Villageview Golf Course. The cost is $65 per team (teams of 4) and includes carts, a steak dinner, and door prizes. Registration materials can be found HERE and are due with payment by August 30, 204. There is a limit of 25 teams for the outing.

Sponsorships are available. Please contact a Licking County 4-H Committee member if you wish to be a sponsor.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Licking County 4-H Program.
