Market Steer and Heifer Weigh-In for 2024

2024 Hartford Fair Market Steer / Heifer exhibitors are asked to make note of the following details to ensure that their market animals are registered online (by noon on November 30) and weighed-in on December 2, 2023 in preparation for the 2024 Hartford Fair. Details regarding eligibility for the Ohio State Fair Junior Fair Market Steer / Heifer show can be found HERE. DNA samples are to be submitted to the OSF by no later than January 15. Change in 2024: OSF is no longer providing 840 EID tags – they must be provided by the exhibitor / breeder, with tag number note on DNA packet prior to submission.

2024 New 4-H Advisor Applications Are Now Available

If you are interested in becoming a Licking County 4-H advisor for 2024, you can find the application HERE. Completed applications are due to the Licking County Extension Office by January 1, 2024. Please note that all applicants must be at least 20 years of age as of 01/01/2024 – allowing for at least one year between enrollment as a member and stepping in to an Advisor role. Applications can also be emailed to Lisa McCutcheon at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu. If you are interested in starting a new club, please turn your advisor application in as soon as possible so we can get that process started as well.

REMINDER: 2023 4-H Achievement Night

We are excited to recognize our members and advisors at the annual Licking County 4-H Achievement Night. We are thrilled to recognize individuals who fall into the list below. While we look forward to recognizing these youth and volunteers, please know that everyone is welcome to attend this event, even if you are not getting recognized. Come be a part of the team! The application for the 2024 Hartford Fair Junior Fair Board is now available HERE. Completed applications must be turned in by November 15, 2023. Applicants must be age 14 as of 01/01/2024 to apply for the junior fair board. Interviews will take place on Saturday, December 2nd at the Licking County Extension Office. Once you have submitted your application, please call our office at 740-670-5315 to schedule your interview.

LAST CHANCE: 2024 Food and Fashion Board Applications Due Soon

The application for the 2024 Licking County 4-H Food and Fashion Board is due by November 15, 2023. To be eligible to apply, members must at least 14 years old as of January 1, 2024. NEW FOR 2024: Members are NOT required to take a foods or clothing project in the current year that they are serving on the board, but should show an interested in 4-H foods and clothing projects and have taken those projects at some point during the 4-H career. Members will serve in a leadership role to support the food and clothing project areas. Members will plan and host workshops, help with judging, plan and run the style revue, and host other events to support our Licking County 4-H members. The application is due by Interviews will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 3:00-4:00pm and 7:00-8:00pm. REMINDER: Gift Card Drive for Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Let’s put our “Hands to Larger Service” as we partner with Karis’ Cause to collect gift cards for patients and their families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital this holiday season. We are requesting $10 gift cards. Gift cards can be brought to the 2023 4-H Achievement Night on Thursday, November 16, 2023 or dropped off to the Licking County Extension Office by Wednesday, November 22nd.

Suggested gift cards:

  • Restaurants – Panera, Subway, and Tim Hortons are located in or near the hospital and are great options. Other restaurant cards are also appreciated.
