The Meat Science Program at Ohio State will offer their annual Meat Judging Coaches’ Clinic on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 8:30am to 4:30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn about, or brush up on coaching a meat judging team. Topics include beef, lamb, and pork evaluation in retail classes, carcass classes, wholesale classes, retail ID, and beef grading.

The Ohio State University Extension Services will host their annual conference December 5-7, 2022 in Columbus. This will the be the first time this conference will be held in-person since 2019 and we are very excited to be able to learn from and celebrate with our colleagues in one location. The Licking County Extension Office will remain open those days, but the majority of staff will be attending the conference. Please note that email/voicemail response times may be a little longer than normal during this time. We look forward to networking with our colleagues from across the state and bringing back updates and new ideas to Licking County!
Representatives of the Hartford Fair’s Junior and Senior Fair Boards – along with Licking County Extension staff members, traveled to Indianapolis November 27-28 to present a program during the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE). They spoke about the importance of creating a strong partnership between teen and adult board members. Their presentation was on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. before an audience of approximately 135 adult fair managers and board members from throughout the world!
BONUS: The presentation crew has been invited to present at the Indiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Convention in January 2023!

The 4-H Spark EXPO (Exploring Pathway Opportunities) is an exciting opportunity for youth who have completed the eighth grade at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year. There will be four days of fun and learning with activities to explore a variety of career and educational opportunities. Attendees will develop valuable skills, make new friends, and fuel individual growth; and they will get the chance to tour Ohio State’s campus.
