High Hopes for High Ropes at 4-H Camp Ohio

GOAL: $120,000

The High Ropes course is an integral element within the Adventure program at 4-H Camp Ohio. Both youth and adults take on the course using the “challenge by choice” philosophy where they all achieve success in their own personal challenges. The current course, built in 1988, has seen over 50,000 users and the time has now come to rebuild. The absence of the course has very much been noticed by campers this year.

While this is a costly project, it will be built by a credentialed professional contractor to satisfy liability and insurance requirements.

4-H Camp Ohio’s new High Ropes course will be a wagon wheel-like design, presenting new challenges and new adventures for participants. Not only will participants have a chance to try a dozen different obstacles while 30 feet in the air, they will also bond as a team and learn about cooperation and determination. Campers’ time on the course will then come to an end with a ride down the thrilling zip line.

With the help and generosity of our camping community and the wider community who have a passion for youth development, we are confident we can make this happen for all campers in 2022!

Ohio 4-H Achievement Form Workshop

The Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council will host a second Achievement Form Workshop at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center from 5:00 to 7:00pm on November 7, 2021. While this is after the forms are due for county selection, this is a great opportunity for those who want to know how to improve their forms in case they are selected to be sent on to the state level. If interested, please RSVP by November 4th at go.osu.edu/AchForm2021.

2022 Family Guide Available

It’s never too early to start thinking about what projects you want to take next year! The 2022 Family Guide is now available online under the “Families” tab at Ohio 4-H. You can view it as both a PDF and as a flipbook. Thanks to a sponsorship from Kroger, the Ohio 4-H Foundation will once again mail out copies to all families and volunteers that were enrolled in 4-H during 2021. Watch your mail in early 2022 for your family guide to arrive. Please note: each family will receive one copy of the Family Guide regardless of the number of enrolled individual in their household.

Don’t forget to also utilize Project Central to help you search for projects, read reviews, and view sample pages from project books. If you haven’t taken the time to write a review for the projects you’ve taken, please do so as that helps other members decide which projects to take.
