East Asian (Video) Game Conference–cfp

Gaming East Asia: Trans Historical, Trans National, Trans Disciplinary Explorations

The East Asian Studies Department of Princeton University is calling for papers to be presented at an inter-disciplinary conference on East Asian (video) games.

The aim of the conference is to explore contemporary video-games from a longer trans-historical perspective, situate these games in a global trans-national context, and employ a broad interdisciplinary approach.  Topics that are of particular interest to the conference organizers include the play with sound and sense, the mapping of virtual worlds, the manipulation of bodies and objects, and the interaction of text, image, and narrative.  The conference will take place on April 8th and 9th, 2016 in Princeton, NJ.  Transportation and lodging will be covered.

Please send a 250 word abstract for a paper or contact the conference organizers Paize Keulemans (pkeulema@princeton.edu) and Franz Prichard (franzp@princeton.edu) for more details.
