Call for Paper Proposals: Young Scholars’ Forum in Chinese Studies 2023

September 7- September 8, 2023
The Chinese University of Hong Kong-Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Asia-Pacific Centre for Chinese Studies and the Institute of Chinese Studies co-organize the Ninth Young Scholars’ Forum in Chinese Studies, to be held on September 7 – September 8, 2023. The forum aims to nurture young scholars in Chinese Studies and strengthen the network among young scholars in the field.
Ph.D. students (after completing qualifying examination) or Ph.D. graduates with less than five years of work experience (including postdoctoral fellows) are invited to submit proposals on any aspect of Chinese studies. Proposals related to the theme of The Digital Turn and Chinese Studies: Data, Method and Meaning are preferable. Topics of interest include but are not restricted to the following: 1. Digitized Sources in Chinese Studies; 2. Significance and Impact of the Digital Turn in Chinese Studies; 3. Methodological innovation engaging digital data in Chinese Studies; 4. Interpretative issues concerning digital data in Chinese Studies; 5. Digital culture and its representations in Chinese society; 6. Areas of digital transformation in Greater China. Participants are expected to be proficient in both English and Chinese.
The Forum will only cover expenses for lodging and round-trip transportation (economy class) for the participants. The organizer will provide maximum subsidy of 1,000 USD (subject to approval) in transportation. Forum registration is free.
