Working Class Literature podcast

The Working Class Literature podcast, an offshoot of the larger Working Class History project, has released a three-episode podcast on Chinese migrant worker poetry, aka battler poetry. The podcast comes with plenty of background information and tips for further reading in the show notes. I had the privilege of contributing and am grateful to editors for their work, as driven as it is thorough and balanced. The conversation dwells on the big picture of precarious labor and cultural production, the lives-and-works of individual poets (Zheng Xiaoqiong, Wu Xia, Xu Lizhi, Xiao Hai, Mu Cao), the Migrant Worker Home in Picun, the DIY tradition of unofficial poetry publications in contemporary China, and more.
