NYU Shanghai Tenured/Tenure Track Position in Chinese Diaspora
Position Description:
NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for a position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor in the department of Global China Studies, with a focus on Chinese diaspora / Sinophone literature, film, and/or media.
Terms of employment at NYU Shanghai are comparable to NYU New York and other U.S. institutions with respect to research start-up funds and compensation, and they include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children. Faculty may in certain cases have the opportunity to spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the NYU Global Network, engaging in both research and teaching.
Qualifications:
We seek candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in Chinese studies, literary studies, cinema studies, media studies, or a closely related discipline. Those with expertise in postcolonial discourse, inter-Asia connections, or the Global South (broadly conceived) are particularly encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates whose research interests complement those of our current faculty in Global China Studies, Humanities, and/or Interactive Media Arts (IMA).
The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses that advance research and analytical skills on topics related to the Chinese diaspora and supervise senior capstone thesis. The candidate should also actively engage in campus-wide service, research initiatives, and events.
