The Department of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a dynamic scholar to fill a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in classical and/or medieval Chinese literature and culture (historical periods prior to the Ming). The position will start Fall 2023. Ph.D. in relevant fields is required by the time of appointment. We especially welcome applicants who read texts from an interdisciplinary angle. The successful candidate is expected to teach classical Chinese and courses in their specialized field, to share the teaching load of survey courses and to advise and mentor graduate students.
