The Global Languages & Literatures Department at Bridgewater State University seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Culture, with secondary specialization in the area of Japanese language teaching. The successful candidate will begin in the Fall semester 2017.

Position Description

The ideal candidate will be able to teach all levels of Chinese language courses as well as introductory level courses in Japanese. The candidate should be able to teach new offerings in Chinese literature, culture, and other areas of expertise, including writing and/or speaking intensive courses. The candidate is also expected to maintain an active research agenda and engage in University service.

Qualifications

PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures or related field; native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English; experience teaching Chinese and Japanese.

Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching, advising and working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should also have an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, work collaboratively, have evidence of on-going scholarly activity and engage students in faculty-student research as well as a commitment to public higher education.
