GRETTA CHAMBERS CHAIR IN EAST ASIAN ART HISTORY, MCGILL UNIVERSITY
McGill University invites applications for the Gretta Chambers Chair in East Asian Art History, a joint appointment in the Departments of East Asian Studies and Art History and Communications Studies. This tenure-stream appointment commencing August 1, 2016 is expected to be at the rank of Assistant Professor (but appointment at a higher rank is possible under exceptional circumstances). Candidates must have a specialization in Chinese art history, an understanding of methodology and critical theory, and the ability to teach an introductory course in East Asian Art and courses from Early to Late Imperial and/or Modern/Contemporary Chinese Art, as well as graduate seminars in the candidate’s area of specialization. Scholars whose work engages comparatively across the region, crossing national and intellectual borders in exciting ways, are strongly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. expected at time of appointment; teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of French an asset.
