I noticed that the list recently ran/linked NYT’s piece, China Turns to Online Courses, and Mao, in Pursuit of Soft Power.
I tracked down both the English and the Chinese rendition of it — just two days later — that ran in Cankao Xiaoxi (参考消息).
I have just completed my post on it, in which I run the entire English text, and show which parts have been deleted in the Chinese version. I do this entirely in English, which has great appeal for those who can’t read Chinese!
Tellingly, some large chunks of offending text have indeed been deleted in the final Chinese. Your readers might enjoy learning which parts didn’t make the cut:
